Still waiting for my slipcover version to ship from Diabolik

There’s probably a waitlist in the event some become available due to returns/cancellations and I can’t speak for the Scared Stiff slipcover as I don’t own that movie, but the Edge of the Axe slip is the exact same thickness and quality as all of the other Arrow slips in my collection.

Just received mine from Diablolik. The slipcover is real nice, glad I got it even though this is a blind buy. But I am excited to check it out later tonight. Hoping it's a hidden gem that I've missed. Always down to find new slashers I haven't seen before.

Same here, the slightly embossed glossy elements on the Slip look quite nice. It's also great that it's a thicker stock than the Scared Stiff exclusive Slip was.

From the pics posted by mikey_horror, I only see one side of the artwork. The original VHS artwork looks like a booklet and not part of the artwork? Very disappointing. I wanted that artwork so bad.

tbh I was a little worried about the slipcover. I heard the "Scared Stiff", one that diabolik put out, wasn't that great. So was just hoping it was like the other slipcovers that Arrow has put out. Of course I mean, it wouldn't have stopped me from getting it anyways though haha. It's a slasher, so had to pick it up.

This was alright; the kills are manic and violent while I dug the creation of a small Northern Californian town. Some amateurish fat needed to be trimmed.

The movie isn't nearly worth the price, but the packaging is indeed gorgeous.

I definitely put it behind the other "late 80s" slashers we've discussed in this thread (Stagefright, Hide and Go Shriek and Intruder.)

[Show spoiler]The Slipcover art work is on the reverse side of the cover art artwork you see in his photos. Whether you get a slipcovered edition or not, you'll get that art design as it's the cover that is faced outwards on the film when it is sealed. Only if you flip it and choose the green cover do you get the green cover as shown in the pictures.

The booklet art is the front cover of the VHS:



I see what the guy is saying; you're only getting 1/2 of the VHS presentation on the slip (the rear.)

But the fact is that cover wouldn't have been as nice as what we got, and Arrow had to compromise somewhere. At least we get it on the booklet, so it's not altogether excluded.

Very happy with this release. I only have the slightest of nitpicks, also somewhat a spoiler:

[Show spoiler]With flick being in HD, the scene in train yard shows the killer unmasked. Being the picture is crystal clear now, that guy was such an obvious stand in and plays like a giant continuity error now.

Anyway, great start to 2020 as far as never released 80s horror on blu-ray is concerned.

My slip version was supposed to arrive Monday but is currently in limbo with no real update in a few days thanks to UPS. Hearing this makes it way worse. Here’s to hoping it shows up!

Diabolik just changed my order (for the non-slip version) from "Preordered" to "Ready to ship," so presumably it will be going out this week—hopefully tomorrow.
