Same here. I guess we're in the next round of shipments

And shipped!

For a first time viewing, should I watch the English or Spanish version? Just curious.

English. It was shot fully in English and recorded in English.

You only need to watch the Spanish version if you want to see the alternate Spanish opening and end titles. Everything else is going to be dubbed voices in Spanish.

Just got my shipping notice too. I was wondering when I ordered it if maybe they were only shipping the slipcover versions out early and didn't have the standard ones in stock, but luckily they did.

Checked my tracking number and my copy arrived at the local post office early this morning. Will be getting it this afternoon—can't wait to watch this tonight.

Edit: Watched it tonight. What a fun, weird movie. As I suspected, I really loved the atmosphere of the entire thing; the Northern California mountain town setting was great. There are a handful of weird things at play (mainly the whole computer plot device, which was really pointless), but the murder scenes were nasty and the lead characters were likable.

I watched two of the bonus interviews, and in the one with Page Moseley, he says that the entire thing—even the exteriors—was shot in Spain. He has to be misremembering this, as the town, road scenes, and several of the houses are very obviously California (they definitely don't have Sizzlers in Madrid). During the discovery of the second body in the tavern, the police cars outside have a decal from Big Bear, so I'm presuming it was shot there. I think that most likely it was interiors that were mainly shot in Spain.

Watched this the other day, was better than I thought it would be. I was a bit apprehensive since its a TV movie but I liked it & am glad to own it.

How much truth is there to this film being a TV movie? For one, the aspect ratio on this disc is 1.85 - far from a TV ratio. Second, it's a Spanish film. Did the Spanish typically make gory splatter films for their TV market? I know Europe has always had "looser" standards but this is a bit much

Watched this for the first time. Thought it was decent. Entertaining, but nothing really that special. I did like the design of the killer, but too bad we rarely see them. The ending was also kind of weird, but the film was overall decent, but forgettable.

Arrow did blow this out of the park with this release though.

This was a tv movie? That makes a lot of sense in regards to how it turned out and its overall level of awareness among fans but it's funny I had no idea of that until now.

I feel about the same as you. The film starts with a bang, has a goofy ending (which actually really liked) and then just sort of flounders in the middle because of some pacing issues.

No regrets on the purchase here, and the presentation is fantastic, but overall this isn't the most memorable of films outside of the killer's mask and Arrows excellent art so it isn't likely something I'll watch all that often.

We're mostly in agreement, as I made similar comments a couple pages back.

I'll emphasize though that I loved the ferocity of the kills...oftentimes in a slasher you'll get a lot of build-up to a relatively-quick death, whereas here the brutality of the deaths are protracted. The killer went all-in on their attack once they sprung, and that brutality was a positive for me.

This is a good point and certainly stands out when watching the film. Usually you get a single swing of the weapon and that's it, but not here.

I just watched The Prowler for the first time last night after watching Edge of the Axe at a friend's house over the weekend...and I'm glad I held off from buying it. As usual, Arrow went all out with a great release. As for the movie itself, it was decent but only a one-time watch for me. The Prowler, on the other hand, was frickin' cool! Now THAT is a slasher!

I'm hopeful that the next 4k Remaster from Blue Underground will be The Prowler. It's the last of the must owns for me (though I will undoubtedly continue to buy the 4k Remasters as long as they release them).

Fingers crossed for both The Prowler and Inferno. Wish they still had the rights to City of the Living Dead. Would've loved to have that one with the Blue Underground special treatment.

The Prowler I might get but Inferno would be a definite buy.

Opposite for me. I was so disappointed in Inferno. Still, I understand that it's more likely to see a 4K remaster than The Prowler, unfortunately.

I hope so too but it doesn't seem likely...at least not for a while. I saw it on Prime but will hold off on getting the old BU release for now. I'm tempted for the Aussie release but I see no feedback about it.

The Prowler is a profoundly underrated slasher movie. I have had it on Blu-ray for many years, and recently revisited it and forgot how damn good it is. I love the atmosphere of it, and the murder sequences are so well-played (similarly brutal and in-your-face, as in Edge of the Axe). The Blue Underground Blu-ray is pretty good given how old it is, and is worth having if you're a fan of the film (I think you can get it for pretty cheap if you wanted to tide yourself over for a possible re-release with a new scan).
