I'm in Denver CO a day before CEDIA begins and I had the fortune of being with 5 engineers and products managers for LG home theater projector division tonight. I had the opportunity to present all of the upgrades that anyone would expect, like and even dream for.

One item that came up was pure 24p support when the metadata sends the flags for 24p original film content to play the content in an equal multiple of 24. Well guess what, my original answer to be sure you have "Real Cinema" selected in the user menu the HU85LA will pay 24p perfectly at 48fps, is in fact, true.

Guess that also explains why film based content has always looked natural and studded free on the HU85LA.
