My opinion is No. The extra warranty is a rip off, that set has LED instead of a mercury lamp. Even if it had a mercury lamp, they are not that much anymore.
Not knowing any better I had bought into the warranty scam when I got my Mitsu. My lamp failed after its expected life span(over 5000 hours), sure the warranty I had covered it but the warranty cost over $400 when I bought the TV. Replacements lamps are now about $75. Its funny because after the warranty work for lamp replacement the warranty provider called to see if I wanted to purchase and extension, as it was close to expiring. When she told me how much I laughed. Of-course she tried to change my mind because of the lamp "issue" I had, then preceded to tell me that lamp replacement was over $300 again I laughed... no thanks.

OK sure sometimes the warranty might become handy if something else fails other than a lamp, but how often does that happen, and can be mostly avoided by doing research before making a purchase to see if a given product has a high failure rate.
