If you're a fan of sci-fi, I recommend "Timeline" and "Sphere" by Micheal Crichton. All his books are amazing, but those two are a couple of my favorites.
If you're a fan of horror read "Night Shift" by Stephen King. If you're a fan of comedy read "Practical Demonkeeping" and "The Stupidest Angel" by Christopher Moore. Both novels have a slight horror sub-genre to them. They are comedy horrors, but 95% comedy. Hilarious style of writing. |

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.
One of the most fun books I've read in the past few years. It is full of references to video-games, books, movies and music from the 80's. ![]() Quote:

I have read some of PKD's books, but I find his work pretty weird sometimes. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, Ubik, A Scanner Darkly, and The World Jones Made are decent. When I was younger, I read a couple of books by Stephen Baxter. Anti-Ice was pretty interesting. The Time Ships (sequel to HG Wells' Time Machine) blew me away. I love Michael Crichton's books - Jurassic Park, Timeline, Congo, and Sphere are all really fun and very well-researched. Haven't read The Andromeda Strain yet, but that's a story that's probably the most scientific. Read The Neuromancer for a class. I found the style rather incomprehensible, but it is essential cyberpunk. If you're willing to go way back, the books of Jules Verne are pretty fast and easy reads. That's all I can think of for now. Not sure if any of it is really hard enough sci-fi for you, but I found them all worthwhile. |

I'm looking for a mystery/thriller type book. murder mysteries are my favorites.
I really love books with crazy plot twists, I loved Gone Girl, so if anybody knows a book like that I'd love to hear your suggestion. I've already read Dark Places, Sharp Objects, Girl On The Train, Defending Jacob |

Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter. It's more than 150-year old novel but a good food for thought.
