I'm glad my sister dragged me to this movie. It was really funny. I'd buy it at $15.

I'm pretty sure this will have a slipcover. But I wonder if this release will have a pink-ray case. It would go perfect with the pink dresses.

I would pay $100,000 for this (if it came with Kristen Wiig). This was better than the Hangover in my opinion. Totally sucks that it's not coming out until mid October.

Melissa McCarthy was just unbelieavably funny in this. Her in the dress store and the bathroom scene made me laugh so hard.

I walked out of this about 20-30 mins in and got a pass to see something else. I couldn't get the b*tch in front of me to stop texting (youtube "Alamo Drafthouse"...that's where I need to be). Also, there was an annoying "over-laugher" 10 rows down. Even if you found the movie hilarious, you wouldn't laugh like this gal was. It was as if: A) She saw it and liked it...decided to take a friend to it for a 2nd viewing...and was trying to sell the friend on how funny it was...-OR-...she went into it hearing/believing it would be hilarious...so she had to reinforce her preconceived opinions (i.e. I'm jumping on the "Bridesmaids" bandwagon heels first).

At any rate, I didn't want the movie to be spoiled by morons. Once you've seen something (esp a comedy or a horror flick), you can never get that 1st experience back again. It's never as funny/scary as the first time. I will say that, from the portion of the movie I saw, it's a very overrated movie (of course overrated is completely subjective, but that's another post). My friend sat through the whole movie and said she felt that way after seeing it all. She thought it was okay, but she wasn't feeling the funny. The only part(s) she really liked/found funny was/were
[Show spoiler] the scene(s) with the cop (whatever that means).
She felt that way despite liking a lot of the people in it. In comparison, she laughed more (and I'm afraid I'll feel the same) at "Hangover 2," even though she didn't like "Hangover 2" that much (nor did I). Not sure how they screwed that one up so badly, why they decided to
[Show spoiler]follow the original's script minute-for-minute, only changing a few of the people and the shooting locations. The best/funniest thing about that flick is Alan's wide-eyed wonderment of/man crush on Phil. Liked that in the original too.

Not sure if I'll go back to see "Bridesmaids" in the theater or not. I have free passes to see "Cars 2," and will see something else instead. I would prefer to see "Bridesmaids" with few/no people. We were lucky enough to see "Hangover 2" alone in a big theater (3rd movie this year we've had that situation). May have to wait for the Blu.

I totally disagree with this. Anchorman keeps getting funnier, probably peaks at about the fifth viewing. Of course this is only my opinion, but that's why we're here, right?

You should give Bridesmaids another chance when it comes out. Rent it at least.

There are a select few movies that get better -or- grow on you -or-, even more rarely (IMO), get funnier with each viewing. I've seen movies in the theater and walked out feeling, "Eh." "A History Of Violence" is one of many examples for me. There was a lot of hype about it, and about Hurt's performance. I wasn't feeling it when I saw it in theaters. The more I saw it, the more I liked it. There are (very few in my case) comedies that I either A) don't find funny upon 1st viewing...only to find later that they crack me up -or- B) find funny upon first veiwing, but end up finding other little funny bits later that make me laugh more.

Point it, I suppose you're right about some comedies. Some stay funny. A very select few get funnier. For me the latter is VERY rare though. Losing that element of surprise ("HTTM"..."The 80's was AIDS and Reagan, let's get the f*ck out of here") sucks. It's definitely true for horror movies. They can totally freak you out that 1st time, but they lose the element of scare because you know what's coming. (Why do I own so many horror movies then??)

Still haven't seen "Anchorman" by the way (or "Step Brothers"). I like Adam McKay (he was good on "Real Time" a couple weeks ago), but I'm not huge on his movies. I have a feeling that "Anchorman" will be one of those cult classics that I will find overrated too. I hated "Ricky Bobby." "The Other Guys" was one I thought was very average, now appreciate a bit more watching it on Starz different times.

There's definitely something to be said (in my case) for seeing something before the hype train takes off. I've found many times that the movie doesn't live up to the hype/praise if I don't see it immediately (I usually wait a while for the crowds to die down...with the not liking rude people and all. The exceptions are movies that I'm stoked for. Next on that list for me is "Horrible Bosses." I'll see that right away). When I wait for a movie that's getting a lot of love I often find I don't agree with the consensus. There are plenty of times when something's getting mediocre word-of-mouth and I end up really liking it. Neither of those are a constant, but they happen plenty.

Same with TV shows. If I don't get it on it from the start, I often end up thinking "What's with all the love?" I got lucky and started watching "Modern Family" from the get-go, and that's now one of my favorites. "Weeds" was a rarity. I watched it after it had been on for a couples seasons and was on Blu (and was getting raves). Loved it, at least for the first few seasons. Now I don't watch it because it became way too ridiculous. I bought all Blu seasons for shows like "Mad Men" and "Breaking Bad" because of universal love and cheap prices. I'm afraid I won't like them as much as others. Hoping I'm wrong. Hoping I'm wrong on "Bridesmaids" too. We'll see.

I laughed my ass off during the food poisoning scene (which I'd watch again), but other than that, I found this completely and utterly underwhelming -- as did the audience in the theater, based on the silence. I went in with high hopes because I like all the actresses, but I felt like they found a way to make Wiig unfunny.
