Awesome caps! I decided to take a few of my own as well, but from my DVDs (Japanese Sony DVD and German Koch DVD) to compare with the last shot of Cuchillo you posted:

Japanese DVD:
[Show spoiler]

German DVD:
[Show spoiler]

German blu-ray:
[Show spoiler]

Obviously, the blu-ray wins out. The texture on Cuchillo's shirt is far stronger on the blu than the two DVDs, and the colors are far more balanced out. Obviously, it's a bit darker, but more filmic... and hell, you can actually see the clouds They're smudgy and washed out on the Japanese DVD, and flat out blown out on the German DVD... the sky looks white! Plus the German DVD seems to have a hint of bluish tinting in the shadows.

Now, the only issue with the blu-ray is that it looks like there's some cropping on the left and bottom sides of the frame, at least when compared to the Japanese DVD (the framing is about the same on the German DVD). But that's about it.

Also, one question I have... the shot after Cuchillo has
[Show spoiler]killed Shep in the gun vs knife fight
and smirks... does it still have the flaring issue? This is the shot I'm referring to, taken from the Japanese DVD of the US cut (notice the red at the top of the frame):

The German Koch DVD just flat out cut the frames that were damaged, and slowed down the footage before it.

I'm still confused about one thing regarding this release--Does the Italian version have English subs so that a non Italian speaker can watch the longer, superior cut?
thanks in advance.

there appears to be a 1 disc (b&w photo cover) 2016 release that followed a 3 disc and a 2 disc version (artwork cover) of the german big gundown blu ray

I have the franco cleef dvd-r with the full english track (where possible). Does anyone know if all three of the above german versions (inc the 2016 1 disc) have the long version with english audio?

Its a shame the US grindhouse release dudnt have the extended english track

How did those transfers handle the scene early on where Van Cleef goes to confront Milian whilst he is being shaved. On the Grindhouse, some of the shots look very blurry and zoomed in - have they always looked that way?

Example shot -

Wow, been a hot minute since I've been in this thread, LOL. Probably a bit of a bump up due to the UK announcement. Off the top of my head, I think every version had this same issue... my theory is it may have been an end of film roll flare-up that they tried to fix by optically zooming on the image when they originally edited the film, but I could be wrong.
