He added some clever ways to keep the story of Danny going without it being a redundant version of The Shining... I havent finished yet obviously, but do you think this warrants a movie? and do you think he'd want Kubrick to do it ![]() |

I finished Doctor Sleep earlier this week and thought it was quite good. I had no idea what the book would be about but feared it may just be a rehash of The Shining with Danny playing more of a Dick Hallorann role for someone knew that has his abilities but this was completely different.

Hi i love reading Stephen king novels and i started reading misery when i was 10 years old, i don't know if it is me but i always read with a dictionary and thesaurus next to me, as if you are familiar with Mr Kings works you will notice he never uses the same adjective twice, i find it fun reading his books as i get to learn new adjectives or new words does anybody else agree?

I've had the paperback of IT for about 6 years and on my Kindle for over 2 years but I just can't bring myself to make the commitment to read it. That book is so freaking long. My attention span for books seems to max out around 500 pages, and IT is over 1100 pages.

Go for his classic 80s and 90s output.
He wasn't the world's best selling author at that time for nothing... Salem's Lot is great, Firestarter is pretty cool, Pet Semetary is excellent. My personal favourite is Thinner, my favourite of his recent books was Duma Key which was a good horror and Joyland which was a wonderful coming of age tale. |

just saw a new blurb in the newest issue of EW that king has a new book coming out on June 3rd called "Mr. Mercedes"
from Amazon - "In a mega-stakes, high-suspense race against time, three of the most unlikely and winning heroes Stephen King has ever created try to stop a lone killer from blowing up thousands. In the frigid pre-dawn hours, in a distressed Midwestern city, hundreds of desperate unemployed folks are lined up for a spot at a job fair. Without warning, a lone driver plows through the crowd in a stolen Mercedes, running over the innocent, backing up, and charging again. Eight people are killed; fifteen are wounded. The killer escapes. In another part of town, months later, a retired cop named Bill Hodges is still haunted by the unsolved crime. When he gets a crazed letter from someone who self-identifies as the “perk” and threatens an even more diabolical attack, Hodges wakes up from his depressed and vacant retirement, hell-bent on preventing another tragedy. Brady Hartfield lives with his alcoholic mother in the house where he was born. He loved the feel of death under the wheels of the Mercedes, and he wants that rush again. Only Bill Hodges, with a couple of highly unlikely allies, can apprehend the killer before he strikes again. And they have no time to lose, because Brady’s next mission, if it succeeds, will kill or maim thousands. Mr. Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable." |

I read the extended edition of "The Stand" in about a week and a half. Ridiculous I was able to get through 1,400 pages that quickly, but every page just flew by. Terrific novel.
Currently reading "The Shining", which I am enjoying immensely. Much better than the horrid film. |
