Well Rock Hudson wasn't John Wayne or Randolph Scott but he certainly made enough westerns to be associated with the genre. I think his best was THE LAST SUNSET BY Robert Aldrich. Also IMO Raoul Walsh was a master storyteller. Can't wait.

Speaking of this movie, who here understands the reference to "Granny Goose"?

It's nice to finally see a real Hollywood 3-D western on 3-D Blu-Ray. Hopefully, we see more.

OK, jitchance, a bit of '50's trivia:

Phil Carey (the lead bad guy here and also in the 3D "The Nebraskan" also did a lot of other western movies and TV in the '50's culminating as a star in the moderately successful TV series "Rawhide". At that same time he did a bunch of TV commercials for a California local potato chip company (now gone, probably sucked up by Frito/Lay) called "Granny Goose". In them he went around as a macho cowboy in the Old West saying: "You may not believe this, but my name is Granny Goose!" Then he'd pull out a bag of chips from his saddlebags and do a Madison avenue schpeil. Those ads were a hoot! I'll always remember Carey as Granny Goose and the line: "What's in the bag, Goose?" It's like always thinking of Stephen Furst as "Flounder".

He was also in a couple of John Ford classics. MR. ROBERTS & THE LONG GREY LINE. Thanks for straightening out the "Granny Goose" reference. Living on the east coast I never would have come across that spot.

Not to stray too far from the main topic but I wanted to ask Bob if he had a favorite 3D commercial?

My question would be how Bob knew about it so intimately as he's an East coaster also?

Beats me. I thought Based on the notes at 3D Film Archive I thought Bob worked out of L.A.

Speaking purely for myself, I learned the secret within two minutes of reading Warren's post, by consulting my wise friend Google. Perhaps you have met?
