The Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman 1984 had a pandemic, Black Adam and the 2023 DC movies dealt or will deal with an endemic.

The difference being that The Suicide Squad had a much better, cohesive story and was met with praise from the ones who saw it. It also resulted in a spin-off television series. The story was about anti-heroes doing the right thing even when it is wrong. It does not pull any punches with that.

Wonder Woman 1984 had a poorly written story trying to champion the idealogy of the 1980s being a nasty, greedy, selfish time period. It also did not help that Wonder Woman was portrayed as a woman pining for a lost love and thus used magic to get him back. The first Wonder Woman showed us a tough Amazonian who could stand on her own. This sequel had her literally being the defiant girl and running around with her “fake” boyfriend. The few times we actually saw her being Wonder, the story proceeds to make her fail in some way.

So it is understandable at this point why Wonder Woman 3 is cancelled. This is Hollywood, the project can be revived as something new. Superman Lives with Nicolas Cage never got past pre-production but it gave us Brandon Routh, Tom
Welling, Henry Cavill, and Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman portrayals. And Cage eventually was Superman albeit animated in Teen Titans Go to the Movies but it happened.

SS was great and WW84 was garbage. Also, Gunn's promotion is due to his success over at Marvel and acclaim for Peacemaker.

SS's biggest fault was that it was just too expensive to make. If the budget was lower, it would have been a success theatrically, even with the day and date streaming release. WW84 had all the money in the world but was hampered by an atrocious script.

Maybe Patty can still crawl back to Disney to continue making her SW movie.

Should have not butted heads with Feige. Who knows, she might have been getting ready for Kang or the Marvels.

On one hand this is a shame, i really enjoyed BOTH Wonder Woman movies but recognise and accept that WW1984 was a really divisive movie and can understand concern from higher ups about another entry in that vein.

I'd really like to at least have a trilogy to round out this iteration of the character.

The first movie is great. The second movie is an absolute disgrace. This was one of the biggest drops of quality I’ve ever seen (from the same director). You can point to Ragnarock and Love and Thunder but I didn’t particularly like Ragnarock so it was more of the same as far as I am concerned.

Edit: Alien to Prometheus (Ridley Scott) but that was decades between movies so understandable.

DC and Marvel have too many events and too many reboots. No one has continuity anymore.

Gal Gadot's star power seems to be falling as fast as it rose. She still has Snow White and the DC cameos she already filmed but after that I don't see her getting any more high profile roles. Yeah, I don't see Cleopatra or that Red Notice sequel actually happening.

It's unfortunate, but with her questionable acting, her popularity lies in "looks" and charisma, things that aren't reliable long term.

Maybe she still has a future as Wonder Woman, but if the 3rd movie is indeed axed, it's over.
