I did the 2.1 update a few days ago and since then my TV screen will occasionally go black and then seem to restart after a few seconds and go to the Android screen. It also happens sometimes when I change a channel or almost any other reason. Anybody else running into this problem?

If it is an update, then it should not happen when one is watching something.
And mine does it several times a day. I am going to see if I can contact Sony tomorrow. I will post here if I get a response.

UPDATE: Tried to get someone at Sony, but no luck. So I did a complete system restore, which included deleting download updates, and that got the TV system back to normal.

Whiny, privileged 1st world babies using televisions as monitors are deeply disturbed. We will find out in a few days when the Series X and PS5 tests come in whether or not there's actually anything to worry about.

Sony promised this TV was (or will be) PS5 ready, not a PC monitor. As far as VRR goes, it appears games need to support it, just like HDR, Dolby Vision, etc (on the PS5.)

Hi, everyone, a head's up about the 2.1 software update. I have the X900H and I did the 2.1 software update about two weeks ago, and after that the TV started having the problem where for no reason the TV would shut down and then restart. I even did a complete factory reset and it still happens. So, I spoke to a Sony rep a few minutes ago and she said that this is a known issue, that there is a bug in the update that is causing this to happen, but they are working on an update that should be out in a few weeks to fix it.

A few moments ago, just after I posted above about the problem with the 2.1 update, I received an email from Costco (where I purchased my Sony model) with the attached PDF wording:

"November 10, 2020
Dear Costco Member,

Costco records indicate you purchased a Sony 4K UHD LED LCD TV (models listed below) between April 13, 2020 and November 2, 2020.

We are pleased to notify you that we have extended the standard limited warranty to 5 years on the TV models noted below (“Qualifying TV Models”).

The actual time period for the limited warranty for all of the below Qualifying TV Models is 5 years from the date of purchase.

All other terms and conditions on the limited warranty card that accompanied the Qualifying TV Models remains unchanged. See the limited warranty card for the terms and conditions.

Qualifying TV Models:
 KD55X7CH/C – Costco Item #9955750
 KD65X75CH/C – Costco Item #9965750
 XBR55X90CH/C – Costco Item #9955900
 XBR65X90CH/C – Costco Item #9965900
 XBR75X90CH/C - Costco Item # 9975900
 XBR85X90CH/C – Costco Item #9985900

Sincerely,
Sony Electronics Inc."

The pdf was ominously labeled "Sony_TV_Recall.pdf"

UPDATE 11/13/2020: I did a little more checking in the Sony site and the limited warranty extension from 3 years to 5 years applies ONLY to the above models from Costco. Similar models of the TVs, but non-Costco, (for example, XBR65X900H) do not have the limited warranty extended.

Interesting, as XBR65X900H is what the model number is on the Costco Canada website. The model numbers I'm pretty sure vary by region, not by retailer.

In that case, you might check the Sony site for Canada and see if it there. I had checked the XBR65X900H on the U.S. Sony site and they did not include the extension for the X900H, just the Costco version of X900CH. In the U.S., their TVs (possible other electronics) have slightly different numbers than regular stores.

Good hopefully that also fixes the other bug ive seen with this update now where WIFI turns off and you cant turn it back on without resetting the TV. Dear Sony take all the bullshit out of your updates and just turn on 2.1 there's no need for advertisements or other crap from Android TV telling me what apps I need or are recommended.

Sony to Address 4K@120Hz Blur Issue on X900H via Future Firmware Update
Sony USA has issued a bulletin for owners of the BRAVIA X900H/ X90CH (also marketed as the XH90 in the UK & other European countries), promising to address the 4K@120Hz blur issue (which is caused by video processing software) via a future firmware update:

I tried a complete factory reset last week but problems still persist. Even after having a Sony rep helping to work through it, I still have the problem I described above. I have contacted Costco for a replacement of this TV. It's a great-looking picture but there is something wrong with it.

I can't help but wonder if Sony increased their limited warranty with Costco from three years to five years on this model and other ones because they know there is a problem with all of these? I'd hate to believe that but I am not sure. I guess I will know if the new TV has the same problem.

im gonna seek a replacement from BB this weekend and see what they say. Bought the extended warranty, just dont have any of the packaging. I would assume Sony would work on a firmware fix ASAP. This is a flagship 4k for them right?

I will not download it. Not again! (See above posts of mine.) Costco is sending me a replacement TV and I will NOT do any downloads to it, even ones that claim to fix the last update . I am not a game person, just a TV and movie watcher, so I don't need to fix anything like game blur.
