Just a what I have noticed?
1) I went to tweak my tv don't use there settings unless you don't want a natural or as the director intended viewing. They have contrasts and sharpness that are set to high. If you want to do it yourself you can get pretty much in the ball-park of what a professional can do. They will get better color saturation settings because they have expensive equipment to do so. But the good news is you can get your picture in ball park with brightness, contrast, and sharpness with diy options. 2) I use Spears & Munsil high definition benchmark blu-ray edition. It cost about $25 which is better than spending hundreds for a tech. If you don't want to buy a picture calibration disc there are many blu-ray titles that have free picture calibration settings built in. I prefer Spears & Munsil only because it explains what to do and gives examples of correct and incorrect settings. 3) What it all boils down to is what you like and if your happy with dynamic picture settings then don't worry. If you desire something better then there are many options out some free, some low cost, or you can pay a professional. Its all relative to how far you want to go to achieve a result you are happy with. Thanks, Kurb1980 |

ISF Certified Calibration is the best way to go if you have a good HDTV! If u bought the TV on sale that was in the front of the store there's probably no hope for you.... I paid $400! Worth every penny... Blu-Rays, Video Games & Sports all look great on my set!

Hi, I'm wondering if someone on the forum could help me with this.
I have a Sharp set and have used the AVS disc to calibrate it the best I can. It looks great but I've been experiencing some banding while watching Blus (even with 5-star reference discs). Any tips on how to get rid of this? Before I mess with it too much and have to start all over..I'm pretty new to calibration and the terms, etc |

Hey guys,
I have a Sony KDL-37V5810, abit old now I know, but does anyone have one and could they share the optimum settings for it? The picture is good, but I am sure it could be better, also, I'm on the severe end of colour blindness, so setting up TV picture settings is not my strong suit ![]() |

Just got a Samsung 46" Series 5000 LED TV for my parent's Living Room. There is a lot of natural light in the room. They have no DVD or Blu-Ray player. The TV will be used for News, Hockey/Baseball and basic TV watching. I have searched to find the proper setting for the TV as it looks blurred to me. It is hooked up Component for now and showing 720 instead of the 1080 it should. Can anyone help me set this up for them?
Thanks in advance. b |

Can't say how much I would trust those settings, you be the judge. Also, calibrating at night would be best. every one should have a calibration disk, but hey, just my opinion. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Disne...Blu-ray/16216/ there's more at the bottom of page. search google with your model number _ _ _ _5000 led settings. & as far as 1080 output, Do you parents even have a capable HD cable box? Google was useless to me earlier when I tried. I will check out the link and google with led settings added. Might need to bring my player and Disney Blu with me? I did get the 1080 working. It was a setting on the tv box that needed to be changed. |

Mine is the M501 model. I checked the links you gave me, but the M501 doesnt have a Post Calibration Settings link. The guy reviewed the M501 though.

I picked up a new Samsung 55" (55FH6200) last week and after trying out numerous settings from other forum members, I feel this one is the best. With the below settings, you'll get a very film like feel with natural face tones:
Standard Backlight 9 - set this to your own viewing conditions. Contrast - 89 or 90 Brightness 34-36 Sharpness 4 Color 33 or 34 anything higher is zany Tint 52-48 or 51-49 Screen fit These are off or to your taste: Dyn con low Black tone dark Flesh 0 or -1 Color space auto White balance...... R off 25 G off 27 B off 23 R gain 20 G gain 24 B gain 25 Gamma -1 or 0 Motion off Warm 1 Dig noise - off Mpeg auto Film mode off Amp custom - blur 7 judder 5 or 3 I tinker with this or go clear based on content watched or off Led motion off Last edited by Blu Myers; 05-09-2014 at 05:56 PM. |

So, I was fiddling with my settings last night, trying to get my picture to look right. I was using The Twilight Zone for black and white and Rushmore and Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion for colour.
I used photos from this website and dvdbeaver for reference in trying to get colours, brightness, sharpness etc to match as best I could but honestly I was using my phone to look at the pictures (no computer) and they're not even full 1080p resolution images anyway so who knows if I got it right. I feel I did a pretty good job but would highly appreciate anyone else's advice if there's someone who know's a fair bit about proper television calibration. It's a Sony Bravia 40EX520. |
