Default Mitsubishi 2009 DLP's announced

60,65,73, and 82" models available. New models are 737 and 837(diamond) series.

Press Release: http://www.electronichouse.com/artic...s_with_3d_read

Wow, I wonder what the depth is on that 82" beast. Glad to see Rear Projection survive for at least another year.

I must say the 60 and 65'' tvs with 120hz look pretty good to me.Anybody own Mitsubishis?Just wondering how they are perceived around here.

Of course they are. I have my 73" 835 coming next week after a Best Buy service plan no lemon exchange on my Samsung. Ah well. There's always something newer/better. Still can't wait to get it.

Purple, the Mitsubishi's I've seen have all been great looking. For the old school rear projections, Mits was arguably the best out there. Their first gen DLP, IMO, was total garbage, but the ones from the last few years have looked great. The biggest complaint I've seen is bulbs burning out prematurely, but from the research I've done, this can be prevented by cleaning the vent screen by the lamp every month or so.

If you have a Best Buy with a Magnolia in it they should carry them. I don't think non-Magnolia stores carry them.

Yeah . . . believe me, I know. This whole no-lemon swap should have been done a month or so ago, but they dicked around for awhile, so of course I get the exchange approved right as the older models are being discontinued. We originally were getting the 65", but they were no longer available, so we had to (REALLY tough decision here ) get the 73" instead. We got the last 73" in the district, no 65's available anywhere near us. Usually there isn't too large of a gap between the old models and the newer ones though, so I would expect to see them soon. The stores here have already sold their floor displays.

Thats cool that it worked out better for you in the end.73'' will be awesome, that would probably make my eyes strain as i have a pretty small living room. But it would be worth it.

Hmm, I wonder how these stack up to Samsung's LED based rptv's. Also, what about Mitsubishi's Laservue rptv's? I figured they would be the natural successor to their dlp models starting in 09. I'm a bit surprised to see more dlp sets from Mitsubishi for 09.

I have the 67" Samsung LED and I compared it to the 2008 Mits sets and felt it was superior after multiple viewings and comparisons ,the 835 diamond series is very good though but higher in cost. I'm sure the 2009 sets will be improved.

Default no lemon exchange

Hello, Curious . . . what was wrong with your TV to cause Best Buy to be willing to exchange it for a new set ?

Thanks, - Ray -

now here is a question. maybe even worth starting a new thread for, but....i think that ALL tv's could go down on price a little for this one fact. most cable company's(comcast) are converting everything to digital or at least most of their channels worth viewing. so do they even need to build tuners into these tv's anymore. i know that the big thing for a while was quam tuners but those dont even work anymore. you are going to need some sort of box on your tv now. so in other words do we need 75ohm on our new tv's?

Most of them have digital tuners built in already, which will still work sans box.

but if you have a cable box hooked into your t.v its not using the digital tuner its using the box to tune. (THE) cable company in the greater seattle area is pretty much all digital so we can only get 30ish analog channels and through out their digital conversion they have removed those frequincies that the digital tuners in the newer t.v's would pick up. see, i think i maybe getting off topic here. i may think about starting a new thread if we start getting TO far into this.

Right, but if you don't have cable, then that tuner is still useful. The PQ is better via OTA signal, too.

and part two...are they still putting quad tuners in t.v's. here is another feature that dosent work with a "box". unless you have a splitter behinde your t.v but then you have to switch inputs just to use it.
