I snapped it up mate, hadn’t seen The War Game and had heard good things. To get Culloden as the other feature was a no brainer.

Don’t worry if you can’t get back to me Carl, honestly never a problem.

Remember being at Blockbuster with others debating which movie for a half hour? So many good movies but everyone isn't in the mood for this or that today. You don't know when you may want to watch something but it may be nice to have the option.

Why does anyone care what others buy unless it's a shared bank account?
Care? I sure don't. But as an observation? Well that's different.

Finished the last episode last night, been watching via Prime Video. The Prime Video was UHD @ 15 Mbps and the audio was DD+ @ 192 Kbps. Mostly dialogue so the DD+ was adequate.

After we all explained why we had large collections you ignored all of our points and said we were "spending money just for the sake of spending money". Great observational skills there.

That's not a hobby. That's an obsession.

agree with penguin.

Lee he did not say he buys films he (or other family members) won't ever want to watch. I can't talk for him and we are a bit different (everything new I buy goes on my unwatched shelf). But If I were to die right now that means 71 that would be unwatched before I die. If I die and there are no films on my unwatched shelves that would mean at some point I felt limited by my collection kind of like people that use streaming services where they can't find something good to watch and so they try adding more streaming services and they still can't find something good to watch.

I'm guessing the video was a heavily cut version of the film, as back in those days the BBFC (British Film Censors) were cracking down on so-called 'video nasties'.

Waste of money and I don't like that they can just pull any movie that loses it's license. So, I'll stick with physical.

I will never make a list of movies I haven't watched or make a queue of things I "should" watch because that would turn my hobby into a chore. I have a huge variety of movies in my collection that are watched and unwatched so I always have something that fits my mood.
curious, what randomizer?

For me the unwatched shelf isn't about a queue or keeping track per-say.

It is more about convenience, It is Dec and I know I want to watch Christmas themed films so that is easy I go to my Christmas themed shelf. Other times I might want a particular film so I go get it. But with thousands of films I find it is helpful narrow things down so when I don't know what I want I start off with my unwatched shelf, is anything tickling my fancy? go with it, if not then I go to the genre that I feel like and check something out.

I find, like with cooking/restaurants, it is easy to fall into a rut where your always picking from the same small selection over and over again. You know they are good so you go back but you feel stifled by the same old.

But that is just me.

I keep track of my collection with jpgs of the cover art on my PC. When I want to select a random movie I simply open up all the jpgs in VLC media player and shuffle it. I press next repeatedly until I see the cover of a movie I want to watch.

cool. I tried entering my collection in a movie DB but I quickly got tired of it. I don't think I would be able to maintain that any better.

I have always had my media catalogued in a DB starting with a Sinclair computer then → Commodore 64 → 8086 IBM with FileExpress → Windows PC using Movie Collector. Used a CueCat scanner to enter bar codes into Movie and CD Collector. Not long ago got this scanner and it works with Movie Collector.

I may stop naming my movies according to TMDB. My device can't sort director's works neatly together anyway, so what am I doing all this work for? Liked my big director folders more when their works were sorted by year. If I'm trying to remember the name of the other movie I have with that certain actor, I can always use my phone. But I think what would be even easier is choosing the movie I'm gonna watch before I turn off or put to sleep my PC.

Good thing that with Bulk Rename Utility I can rename a 41 film director collection in not even two minutes. Move the release year at the end to the beginning, replace the closing bracket by the year with a dash and spaces, remove the opening bracket.
