Elemental just doesn't seem interesting at all. Flash is going to suffer because of the Snyderverse baggage, I think people way overestimated its box office

Good to see that Regal is emerging from bankruptcy sooner than expected. Last week one of my local Regals put up a sign on the side of the building announcing a renovation. They've been doing renovations since last year, but they stopped for a few months after the holidays. I assumed it was because of the bankruptcy, but the last few weeks it's been full steam ahead. It was already a really nice theater, but they're modernizing it and putting up Regal signage everywhere. It was originally an Edwards Theater. Some sections are finished and they put new seating in every auditorium. The IMAX, RPX, lobby, and main concessions area are still being worked on. So for now the only premium formats they have are 4DX and ScreenX.

Screenx is awesome by the way.

My local Regal is in desperate need of a renovation but I doubt it's going to happen. Initially it was one of the locations slated to be closed in February.

The one time I went I enjoyed it. I saw The Curse of La Llorona. So it’s been a few years. I’ve been wanting to utilize it more. Most movies that play in ScreenX also play in 4DX, which also has 3D. So I tend to lean more towards that format.

I noticed that this week The Little Mermaid is in 4DX, but Fast X is still in ScreenX. I haven’t seen it yet so I’m going to try to go next week.

Hopefully they eventually update them all. Another location I frequent hasn’t been updated and still has the “Edwards Theater” signage, but an employee told me that they were going to renovate when the other location is complete. I’ll believe it when I see it, but it’s not falling apart or anything. It’s actually pretty nice and they added Dolby Atmos to the RPX auditorium as well as converted an auditorium to ScreenX. It also gets more indie and foreign films than any other location in the area.

I had not been paying attention to the Regal closures and just found out my favorite location shut down. I’ve been so busy this year I hadn’t looked it up to see what’s playing and made the hour drive and now I am devastated. I used to drive out of the way, into ANOTHER state, to go to this location because it had not only the most beautiful IMAX room I’ve seen, but it had 19 screens and had every indie out. I would go and see 4 movies in a day because the theatres here in my area wouldn’t get indies ever or many months later.

Damn, I am bummed.

Sorry to hear that Britnasty.

It's odd but it can be really hard to get over the closure of a theater you've grown to love. Been there many times, even before the pandemic.

Pours one out for our fallen homies. A Regal movie theater, in this case.

I am wary of "renovations" to big box cinemas because modern designs since the 2010s have been bland and sterile. The cheesiness and crust are charming, just upgrade the equipment and keep everything else.

Can’t speak for other chains but AMC did a fantastic job renovating several theaters about 5-10 years ago in the eastern PA area. They basically gutted locations that had deteriorated to dollar theater quality. And the modern design they went with isn’t too bad IMO. I’d go so far as to say that the bathroom sink area even has a premium feel thanks to the lighting and motion activated faucets.
