I would assume Planet Earth could be considered a documentary. I would absolutely love to see the INSIDE THE MAFIA series that occasionally airs on NGC come to blu

i think the discover channel show "galaxy" is releasing on blu in november...at least i think it's called galaxy. Anyway, it's amazing

Baraka is not really a documentary.

Honestly, I'm not sure how Baraka can be classified as far as genre goes. To me it seems like movie more fit for an art gallery than anything else. There isn't any dramatic narrative. Just a lot of thought provoking imagery and a moody soundtrack.

One thing is certain, seeing the movie projected in 70mm is quite an experience. I'd love to see it that way again. Hopefully the folks working on the Blu-ray release "hit the ball out of the park" with their 8K transfer of the 65mm Todd-AO elements.

Back to topic, some interesting documentaries are available on Blu-ray. Planet Earth obviously is one of the most popular ones. I'll put in a recommendation for Helvetica -at least for anyone with any interest in graphic design and/or typography.
