I open this topic, because The Lion King has been released for the first time in 4K in Australia in 12 december. Here's the pre-order of this new 4K here:

Wonder if this will be the first UHD from Disney (IE a non-Marvel/Lucasfilm title) to be released in the UK.

Even so, I'll import it if not. This will be a day one.

Next year is the 25th anniversary so I dunno why they're releasing it on Dec. 12. Makes more sense to just hold off a month or two and a make a big deal out of the anniversary. (Not to mention the obvious tie-in with the remake.)

They might feel they'll make more money at Christmas then as a tie-in to the remake? But I agree, it's a strange release date. But I'm not gonna complain.

I just bought the Signature Blu-ray less than a year ago. Doubt I'll be doing any Blu-ray to 4K upgrading, only new releases or ones that I don't currently own.

I really doubt this is coming out in December. That would make 6 movies to come out from Disney in the fall/holiday months. They almost always never do that many high profile releases together at one. I'm in agreeance with those that said they will probably do a release next year to coincide with the 25th anniversary. The industry loves that type of stuff and never misses an opportunity hardly to celebrate these things.

Except, UPC 032429309853 is for the US release of Mission: Impossible - Fallout 4K.

I won't believe this until there is an official press release.

I agree that we should wait and see, but HDmoviesource has been too quick on the copy and paste before also. So I am optimistic.

I'm not a fan of this film but it's nice to see Disney Animation going into 4K.

I wonder if this is our Disney Vault 2018 release. Since it's long overdue for an update on that.

Even though the UPC is for Mission Impossible: Fallout I am staying optimistic since I feel like MI: Fallout A/V details should be Dolby Vision/Atmos instead of

Would be odd with TLK just released (still released) last year. I've never known them to consider a separate format release (a 3D and a 2D version) as a New Vault item release. If TLK and some of the others do come out with a 4K I suspect it will considered more like separate 3D releases of Jungle Book and Sw:TFA Collectors

Odds on favorite is still a Fantasia release.

Son of a.... And I just bought it in blu-ray last week on the assumption Disney is never going to get around to releasing their catalog in 4k.

I don't collect animation usually, but I'd get the 90's Disney classics I grew up with on 4k. Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast.

The only request for Disney animated is from my wife and her list is the same. Though she was an adult by the time those movies came out.

Those and Robin Hood. But Robin Hood doesn't have its price jacked up like so many other Disney animated movies.

Lion King dropped to $20, which qualifies as a "sale" as far as Disney goes and Beauty and the Beast was under $18 on Amazon, so I had Best Buy price match it and bought both in the last week.

Are Aladdin and Little Mermaid even in release in America right now? I never see them in the store.

They're both currently in "the Vault," though you can still get The Little Mermaid through Disney Movie Rewards.
