I have twice almost ordered Eureka MoC's Laura but held off because of the poor (3.5/5) PQ rating here. The Region free Fox Classics version is rated at 4.8/5 and not that much more expensive to get on E-bay. Is it really that much better?

PS: I checked on Rewind and Beaver. Though the Extras as slightly different, both seem OK. On Beaver, the Fox version appeared to have better contrast, something important for the noir atmosphere, I thought. But I would still like others' opinions.

I can't speak to to the quality of the discs, but the scoring system is basically irrelevant when the discs have been reviewed by different reviewers. There is no objective criteria so I would't get hung up on them. One reviewer's 4 is another's 3.

I have both. There's not a massive amount of noticeable difference from what I saw.

Both have great exclusive extras on the discs though so I ended up keeping both anyway.

I've got both - the Fox one was first available in 2013, the MoC not until 2019 - and I have a very distinct preference for the US release, partly because the Fox has stronger B&W contrast on what is in any case a somewhat milky-looking restoration, made worse by the Eureka's elevated brightness level, and partly because for me at least the extras on the original are so much better than on the UK one.

Whilst the commentaries are the same, the MoC's extras primarily consist of the two radio adaptations - naturally enough, audio only - on which I personally don't place much value; whereas the two 45-minute biographies of Vincent Price and Gene Tierney on the Fox are both excellent and highly informative pieces well worth watching. A great pity that the "20th Century Fox Classics" series of which this release was one of the jewels was so unceremoniously abandoned nearly four years ago. Oh, and it's region-free in case you're worried.....

There’s no shortage of ways to watch those A&E docs - they’re both on the Twilight Time of Dragonwyck, the Price on The Fly, and also

I would like for one of the titles to be The H-Man/Battle from Outer Space with appropriate subtitles for Outer Space that are not based off of the dubtitles

I already got one, but I hope, for other collectors who missed out, the re-issue will just be a higher print run of the same limited edition. By the looks of it, too many were bought up by scalpers.

The highlighted parts above are both definitely noticeable on the Beaver screenshots. I noted how the dark suits appeared almost grey on the MoC and shadows are better in the Fox version. I think I'll try to get the Fox if I can get it at a reasonable price. I know that it is region-free but it would not have mattered even if it was Region A locked; I have hardware-hacked region free blu-ray player linked to my LG OLED 65" C9 where I watch my Criterion BDs, almost all of them from the US.

It's not that elusive, Kino released it 8 years ago. Region free and includes a David Kalat commentary.

I think Eureka have taken note, and are now actively seeing which one of us cracks first - me over PANDORA's BOX, you over SCARLET STREET, or Rapta over JOHNNY GUITAR......

Importing in the current situation has its own problems. Plus, a Eureka release would probably add subtitles and probably a few new extras. I think the major problem with this film is Scarlet Street IIRC is in the public domain so I wonder who has the best available assets?

Undoubtedly a Eureka release would likely top it for extras, but the master that Kino used is very nice. It's from a 35mm print restored by the LoC. Not sure that Eureka would be able to do too much to top it tbh.

The Kino is also, unusually for them, B-compatible.

There's also a French region B release, but judging by the AMZ comments, it doesn't seem too hot.
