Default GoldenEye 007 (Nintendo Wii)

Quote:
GoldenEye 007 is a 2010 first-person shooter video game developed by Eurocom and published by Activision for the Nintendo Wii video game console, and the Nintendo DS handheld game console. It is an enhanced remake of the critically acclaimed 1997 video game of the same name, which was developed by Rare for the Nintendo 64. Both games are, in turn, based on the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye. The game was officially announced by Nintendo at their E3 2010 conference presentation. A Nintendo DS version is also in development and will be produced by n-Space.

Well, this is definatly going to be better than that other GoldenEye released last gen. It simply had no relation to the original other than the name. This is going to be different...but in a good way. It still follows the original story, but with new remixed levels.

I didnt play the 2nd one that came out but I do expect this one to be great and maybe just as good as the N64 version but that will be tough. Got Em!!

I do wish it was available on other consoles for the higher resolution and better textures. But i'm still going to get this unless the reviews and people opinions say that it is a horrible game.

That gun was awful. Even dual wielding it wasn't worth it. Proximity mines in the Complex. Good times.

My fav gun was either the Golden Gun or the RC390 I think it was called. My favorite 4 player game was the flag. Awesome game. Got Em!!

Well, I reserved mine with the golden controller, just for that; as I don't like Craig as Bond but you know, the whole copyright issues.

That was good times. But my favorite map when we played was the stack. That was a great map. I mist say that while playing in the complex was great, It would suck to play in it now after playing the superior enchanced version in perfect dark. I pretty much play multiplayer exclusively there and to go back to dead end corridors would really suck.

Dual Dostevei was the best guns in goldeneye personally follwoed by the AR33 assault rifle.

As for this game, it looks fun and while gameplay is infinitely more important than graphics, the Wii's graphics look worse with every passing year.

Thumbs up

Golden Eye for the N64 is likely up there in my all time favourites list in FPS's and games in general. Multiplayer was fantastic. I think I mentioned this game in another thread with regard to gaming moments. But I haven't laughed as hard as I have in this game. All focus apparently from Rare was placed into single player, with Multi added as an after thought and boy what an addition it made to this experience. absolutely loved it!!.

Be interesting to see how this translates by today's standards ^^.

I am not someone who really plays video games, as I have minor dexterity issues that prevent me from being able to handle the controllers well, but I did have a best friend when I was young who would come over and play them with me, and as a team, with him at the controls and myself figuring strategy. Therefore, I did develop an obsession with two games, namely, Grand Theft Auto III for the PlayStation 2 and, earlier, GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64--I eventually got good enough at these that I could play them myself. GoldenEye 007 is undoubtedly my favorite.

This news gives me mixed feelings. Firstly, the lack of Brosnan's visage on that cover art makes me worried that they have not secured the rights to character likenesses, and for me, part of what made the original so great was that you could literally play through the plot of the movie, and many of the missions precisely mirrored things that Bond did in the film. Secondly, I would have preferred that Nintendo work out their differences with Rare and get the original N64 edition ported to the Wii Store as a playable emulation.

I guess the second part doesn't really matter though, as the Wii is at my family's house.

They purposely didn't secure brosnan. The new Goldeneye uses Daniel Craig's likeness and voice to help give it a current feel. While this game can't possible compete with the original, it should be good given Eurocom developed it who did the solid second Bond game on n64 "The World is Not Enough".

Has anyone picked this up? The online multiplayer looks great - but I'd like a review from an ubiased player before I judge by IGN's scores...
