Cool Official Sharp AQUOS Owners Thread

This thread is for anyone who owns an AQUOS television by Sharp. (Give calibration tips, etc.)

I own the LC-46D64U, and it is an AWESOME television! In my opinion, its picture quality even rivals that of Toshiba and Samsung LCD televisions.

Cali: I own the 46" 92U model. I bought it back in February of 2007 and could not be happier. I feel that Sharp makes a great LCD monitor. I honestly do not remember my settings, but I would suggest that you go to AVS Forum and find the link for your model. I am sure that you will find setting tips and the like. I know because I did the same thing for my monitor.

Enjoy!

Just gave my 42 inch sharp to my GF. She had the same model as mine and the panel went out. I really did enjoy the picture i think it was about 4-5 years old. Alas, I got a panny plasma and im am totally blown away with pq. The colors are so natural and wathing the kings win the stanley last night was amazing. Back to sharp i like the picture better than most leds out now. The color on the sharp seems a lot more natural to me.

LC40LE700UN... when my power goes out, my video board chokes on itself and I get the dreaded blinking lights at the bottom, so I have to manually reset the video board. 98% of the time, this occurs. I did pay the extra for the extended warranty @ Futureshop and put in a claim on it, so far so good, but they told me that "nexicore" was going to do the tech work, and when I googled it, its almost nothing but pissed off people and nothing about them servicing televisions. Anyone have anything serviced through them, or put in a claim through futureshop?

Anyone here have the 70/80 inch Quattron models? My parents (I think and hope) are looking at new TVs and I am looking for them, between the Mitsubishi projection sets, the Panasonic 65" 3D, and the aforementioned. They want very big and very good, as this could be the last "main viewing room" (Living room or basement) TV they get.

I bought an extended warranty when I had purchased a XBR8 through them. The logic board failed twice so they gave me my money back so that I can put it towards a new set (I ended up getting the Sammy PN64D8000).

I didn't have an issue with the process but I don't recall who did the servicing (sorry).

The 70" model Ive heard nothing but good reviews on. The full array back lit helps steer away from all the unwanted uniformity issues like clouding. the 80"'s seem to keep failing( Friend has warrantied 4) the Samsung 9000 series goes up to 65" and I've heard amazing things about. Other then that the Next ideal would be looking at the panasonic VT50 coming out.

Walmart has it for $3998 if that helps. LOL I'm on the fence about it. I have the 52LE920U, and I absolutely love it. I think I would be happy with the 60' one, or really happy if they made a 65' one, but, when I bought mine, they didn't have the 60' in stock yet. One of my friends has the 70' and it is massive. I think 70' would be the perfect size and he got a great deal on it, around $2200. I'm thinking about it. I'm hoping the 80' comes down in price next year to around $3000.

I had the 70" Quattron and now have the 80" 632 model. You get used to the size very quickly! If the pricing on the 70" TV's is any indicator, I don't think the price on the 80's will come down drastically in the next year. The lowest price I have seen is around $3700. The pricing on the 90" has pretty much relegated it to video store showrooms.

I'm on the fence in regards to purchasing a 70". Most 65" plasma , led etc various makes and models run in the area of $1500......is the extra 5" worth an extra K? The general rule of thumb is to go as large as possible because you will always see a lil rm where a larger set would fit.....But again is the 5" worth it....

Needless to say the 90" are highly coveted...But if you have 10K for a tv you could do a lot better with a projector and a screen and have a ton of change left over for what ever.......

I'm hoping that the 70" come down in price during the holidays.....

That is something only you can decide. For me, it was worth the money to get the extra 10" over the 70" (I would do it again), but I don't think I would have upgraded 5" to get 75".

Yes I agree. I think its worth spending the extra when you 10" but the price doesn't sit right with me for only 5"

I've seen the 70" for $1500 used and $2000 or so new on craigslist. But that is not the type of purchase I would make on Craigslist. I would have to dot the I and cross the T before even contemplating that purchase.

When I look at the 80" I really think the funds would be better suited for a projector and screen set up. But thats just me. I'm usually out of the house for 12-16 hrs a day. I really do not have time to watch tv and or movies as I used to.

Pls don't get me wrong I am not knocking you nor your decision process. If I had it to spend and or a serious case of have to have it now hit me. I would probably have one now.

I peeped your pics. You deff look like a proud owner and you should be!!! The pics look more than impressive.

I'll see what the holidays bring me.

Yes, I agree. I would not use Craigslist for a purchase like this. I only use Craigslist for small electronic purchases.
