Jessica Michelle Chastain was born March 24, 1977 in Sacramento, California. After appearing in such shows in on offs, in shows such as ER, and Veronica Mars and she was A.D.A. Sigrun Borg in three episodes of the short lived Law and Order Trial by Jury. In 2008 she had the starring role in the movie Jolene. Her next big role was in The Debt starring as "Young Rachel" Take Shelter, with Michael Shannon and Shea Whigham. Her big break came in 2011 when she starred in both Terence Malick's The Tree of Life with Brad Pitt and Sean Penn, later that year would also came The Help. Next she was front and centre for her role as a CIA operative in Zero Dark Thirty, who was one of the members of a team who were instrumental in finding where Osama Bin Laden was hiding. She has continued her strong work in movies such as Christopher Nolan's Interstellar starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Michael Cain. In 2015 she starred in Ridley Scott's The Martian opposite Matt Damon, Jeff Daniels, Kristen Wiig, and Michael Peña. Jessica Chastain won an Oscar for best actress for her role as Tammy Faye Bakker in the movie "The Eyes of Tammy Faye".

It's taken a while for me to warm up to her. Chastain provided solid work in some of the stuff I had seen her in like Tree of Life, Coriolanus, The Help, Mama, Interstellar and The Martian. But where she really won me over was with her role in Crimson Peak as the completely bat***t crazy sister to Tom Hiddleston's character. A terrifying yet tragic character she was in that. Plus I was surprised how she was able to to do an English accent in that.

You forgot her premiere movie role in Jolene...and her adventure role in Blackbeard (alongside Angus "Robert the Bruce" MacFadyen as Blackbeard). She also played a rather saucy and charming role in Miss Julie opposite Colin Farrell. Also was in Mama opposite Nikolaj Coster-Waldau aka Jaime Lannister from GoT. And Lawless with Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman, and Shia LeBeouf. Even the Huntsman: Winter's War she managed to get a lead role opposite Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt and Chris Hemsworth.

Lastly...she was in an episode of Veronica Mars, granted it was one episode.

Sometimes that can happen with me. I could see the same actor or actress in the same movie several times over but then they do that one role and I immediately jump on the hype train.

Lena Headey's a fine example. She was in the Jungle Book in the 90s, along with Merlin in the 90s (Sam Neill), the Brothers Grimm movie with Matt Damon and Heath Ledger, and even in 300 with Gerard Butler before she got her chance to shine as Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones.

I actually thought she shone in the Sarah Conner chronicles (but Cersei is something else)

I kinda developed a crush on her all the way back in 2000 when I saw her in Gossip. Awful American accent(and movie), but she was really cute in that flick.

I remember watching the Martian for the first time on BD, I really didn't care about Matt Damon on Mars. I just wanted to see more Chastain and I wished she was my commander in space!
