Default Wrong Forum? Sony Camcorder - HDR-SR11

I bought a Sony camcorder, HD - AVCHD, model: HDR-SR11 amd it records in Full FD 1080 - 1920x1080i

My question...

Does anyone know when I copy the files from the camcorder hard drive... if I only need the .MTS files from the STREAM folder.

I am able to open the .MTS files in Studio 11 and Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0...

So is that correct? Only the .MTF files are required and the rest I can forget about?

I hope so, I only saved that folder and formatted the camera hard drive already... was I correct and I am lucky?

Come on... with all the brains in this forum... no one knows if I only need the .MTS files from a Sony HD camera?

Just messing with you... I am able to view the .MTS files... so I think I am good.

I just wish I had a Blu-Ray burner to back up all of these huge files.

Why don't you use the Handycam Utility that's on the cd that came with the cam to export the files to your hard drive?

That's what I do. It also helps in sorting out the clips by date.

You should be fine with just the .MTS files.

I would highly recommend using the utility program that came with the camera. The utility assigns the filenames with a date-time stamp.

If you just copy the files from the camera, all your filenames will be the same.

Thanks guys...

I normally hate programs that come with cameras. I will try it one of these days.

I think for now, I am safe with the .MTS files.

I am not worried about a time-stamp right now. I just need to know that the file are from 2008, so I am good... I HOPE!
