New Line has announced that Hairspray will be it's first release. Give it some time. A lot of studios release newer titles in High Def and then go to the back catalog. It probably won't happen till next year at the earliest.

New Line already got their logo as supporters on the HD-DVD website.

Remember, at 30 GB this forces even the theatrical version of ROTK to less than 20 Mbps for both video and audio.

ROTK (especially the EE version) is the example of why HD DVD needs to die. In order to get a decent bit rate for video and either TrueHD or DTS-HD MA (or even more so PCM) you must have more than 30 GB to play with!

I will not buy the LOTR series until there are Blu-ray specific encodes. Period.
Ummm.... no.
If the audio and video were both uncompressed then it would limit the audio and video to 20 Mbps. Since the video is compressed the bit rate would be quite a bit higher. But we're talking several Mbps of audio, so that still doesn't leave enough to get the video rate up anywhere near the 35+Mbps that these movies deserve. And I guess any extras would have to go on a second disc.
I don't know about anyone else, but I find the idea of a second disc in any box that isn't a multi-title box set to be rather tacky given Blu-rays capacity.

I hope that Lord Of The Rings Trilogy comes to Blu-Ray. I own all 3 movies on DVD but the movies would look great in high definition.

Default Lord of the Rings - when?

Good day guys,

I got a PS3 two weeks ago and let me tell you that I truly love BD movies... And I cant truly think what was in Paramount mind to do that when clearly BD is a superior format. Ok now to my questions: is there a ETA for LORTs, Star Wars, Matrix or Indiana Jones for BD?

Also I know this part of the question may not belong to this forum but I have a Samsung 1080p 40in LCD what would be the best setting for the upscalling of regular dvds to play them on my PS3 and get the best out of them.

Sorry for my english but spanish is my first language, hope you understand

Thanks! And all Hail Sony and Blu Ray!
