Sorry if this has already been posted (forum searches came back empty).
Found this player at my local Costco for $148.99 (CDN) and it comes with an HDMI cable in the box. http://www.qvc.com/el/pdf/HP_BD2000_datasheet.pdf http://www.qvc.com/el/pdf/BD2000_User_Manual.pdf Anyone have this player? ![]() |

Well right away I see that it is made by Lite-On, I've actually not seen any Lite-On OEM'ed players before, but I had heard that they made them.

Yes, on the first page of the manual it states that this is a Lite-On product (bottom of the page). Looks nice and relatively cheap with BD-Live and a HDMI-cable included, but it lacks DTS-HD MA unfortunately.

Hi,
I just bought one, so far so good ![]() Got it home, plugged it in, connected the HDMI to my Sony 720p projector, plugged the Coax into my sound system and voila, everything just worked. I was replacing my Laptop (Acer 5920G) which has a BD player, and I found the load times very good. However I have nothing else to compare to. In Canada we don't have Netflix or other (legal) HD streaming/download services, so I didn't care it didn't support that. However, it sure seems like it would be easy for them to add via firmware upgrades. It has a conveniently front-mounted USB slot, which allows me to trivially play AVI, MKV, MP4 etc video files on my USB key. It does not list .MOV as a format it can play, however it successfully recognized and played my h264 encoded .MOV files! It made a nice slideshow from .jpg files, and plays MP3 files too, though I doubt I'll use that since running the projector just for that seems a bit expensive ![]() So far the only thing I haven't liked about it is that it appears to require me to manually change from 16:9 to 4:3 when I put in standard def DVDs. If I don't, it stretches the 4:3 to fit 16:9 and that drives me crazy ![]() Since I watch 95% Blu-ray this isn't a big burden. It might also be a config on my projector I need to figure out. Anyway, I've been happy with it and it was cheaper than the cheapest "on sale" machine I could fine with more features. Cheers, Hoop Last edited by hoopbuddy; 12-30-2009 at 05:49 PM. |

I own this player but it keeps saying it can't detect audio on the mkv files and avi files? Does anyone know why this is? I can't seem to figure it out. It plays the video however no audio.

Hey all; I'm hoping someone can help me.
Just purchased an HP blu-ray player (BD-2000). All seems to work fine except I keep getting a weird little "error" icon in the top middle of the screen. No matter what I do to change the setups and such, I cannot get that icon to go. It's extremely distracting as it's in the middle top of the screen whenever I play a DVD or other form of movie. Anyone have answers? I've tried to search google, call customer support...so far no leads. |

Along with lacking DTS-HD Master Audio, it also cannot decode DTS-HD High Resolution Audio. Is Dolby True HD expected to be the main audio format on BlueRay discs? I guess it's a audio format war and will vary. In anycase, the old Dolby Digital (5.1) is mandatory on all BR discs. |

I just bought one of these also and was wondering how well it worked. Also I bought one of those cheap Magnavox ones from walmart a while back because I was thinking it would look just like my PS3 did but it didn't, why is that? Also, could some compare the one I just bought to the PS3?

Good unit except for not playing audio on any of my divx movie files. Does anyone know of any firmware for this machine that may fix this?

Purchased one of these at Costco in Canada. Installation went fine until I hooked up the internet cable and crashed my router. Tried playing the BBC series Planet Earth boxed DVD set. Cannot get beyond the intro screen on any of the discs in the box. Machine is very slow to respond any time you insert a new disc. Taking it back and trading up.

Edit: I have now tried a .mkv and a HD XviD and HD DivX (all burned to DVD+R) and all played with no problems. It would not play a DivX Ultra file (played the audio, but gave an "unsupported video" message). My son has also watched approx. 10 blu ray movies and a couple of DVDs with no problems experienced yet. Last edited by brettski; 01-13-2010 at 03:21 AM. |

I bought one of these at a silent auction and have had nothing but problems with it. The unit plays DVDs just fine but is flakey with Blue Rays. With some movies it freezes as soon as I put the disk in. With all others it freezes when the movie ends or I hit stop/pause. The display shows the time and there is no response on the remote control or the panel buttons. The only way out of this state is to unplug the player wait a few seconds and plug it back in. It is very annoying. I've done some searching and have been unable to find any firmware upgrades.

Hi everyone. I just bought one of these. It plays well. I'm trying to enter the players' code into my Rogers universal remote and I'm having trouble. In the HP manual it give a 4 digit code for Canada, but when I follow the steps and enter it, it doesn't activate. Anyone here know what code is used for Canada. I think the one listed in the manual is incorrect. Thanks in advance!

Forgive me but I am a newbie to BluRay. My kids got me this player for Christmas. Connected it to my Sony 46" LCD with its supplied HDMI. The Sony is connected to my Surround System with an optical cable. This setup has work without problems with ATT Uverse and antenna. Played the new Star Trek Blu Ray disc on Christmas Day, had wonderful 5.1 sound. I changed my Netflex to add Blu Ray option. Of the six disc I have played, 3 had no 5.1 sound - no back channels. The discs that didn't play were Starship Troopers 3 - sucked, The Express - good, & Chaos - very good. On Chaos the beginning Liongate credit had perfect 5.1 but the actual movie body had no back channels. Is this a player problem? A settings problem? Am I doing something wrong? Will a firmware update help? I appreciate any and all suggestions.
Thanks |

This may sound like a dumb question, but are you going into the movies Main Menu and under Audio choosing the audio you want. It may not be defaulting to the 5.1 you want.

yes I did check the movies audio setup. On the ones that didn't give me back channels I tried different settings on both the disc setup and the player's setup. The end result still no back channels. There are no dumb questions. It may be me doing something dumb. Thanks for your interest.

Sorry I can't be of more help - I only have the HP connected directly to my son's 26" Toshiba LCD using HDMI - he has no receiver/surround system in his bedroom. Are your regular DVDs all playing the proper 5.1, and it is only blu-rays that are giving the problem?
I know that for the PS3 I have set up to a surround system (HDMI to the TV; Optical cable to the receiver) that to get 5.1 I have to use bitstream for blu-rays. I know that on PS3 if you are using an Optical cable and you have it set to Linear PCM and you select a Lossless audio track, you will only get stereo mode. You may find some help by visiting the "Home Theatre General Discussion Section" on this Forum. |

Every DVD I played on the HP had perfect 5.1. The problem seems only to be with BluRays. I talked to HP tech service and we reviewed all settings of the player and the discs - all set at bitstream & 5.1. I have solved the problem by returning the HP player.
I'll wait another year for Sony to drop their prices. |
