Default Local Target's Blu-ray movie section blows

Hi all,

Just got back from a brand new target store that just opened in my area. I have to say, the selection for both formats is tiny, (about 12 movies each), and the only one I would be interested in would be TFE, but I didn't know if the version that was stocked was the remastered version, so I left it. Granted they did have flags of our fathers, and letters from Iwo Jima, but I haven't seen either, so I think I need advice on those.

Out.

just wait. They only announced it last week, but they are going to be promoting Blu-ray a lot for the holidays. Give them a few months to get the shipments out to the stores and get the displays ready.
I think this is going to be huge!

I went to Wal-Mart for some essential shopping, and I happened to see a Blu-Ray title in stock there. It's a small town it was in, so I should be grateful that the market penetration is increasing.

I just went to my local Target yesterday to see if they happened to set out 300 early and I noticed they had a very poor selection. Hopefully by the holiday's they change their tune. Also, I have 4 Wal-Marts near me and out of the 2 I checked, so far no Blu-Ray.

I could live with the poor selection at my local Target if they at least made sure to have new releases put on the shelves on the release date. Even Casino Royale was a couple weeks late at my Target. Ever since then I've been ordering online.

(If some of you are wondering why I seem to be in Target so often, it is just a five minute walk for me and I even do grocery shopping there...ok, so I have a lousy diet.)

I had a target employee telling me once that their selection of HD Movies is limited because the only hd players they sell are the add on for 360 and the PS3. however, he did mention by somewhere around october novmber the selections will increase.

The Walmart I shop in is in a small town, but I bet they have close to 125 titles to choose from. some of the younger guys that work in the department are noticing the brisk sales now that PS3 has become easier to get, and they seem to get the major titles on release day too. Hooray for bluray growth and awareness!!

I really like shopping at Target, but I just went in to get 300 this morning and they didn't have it out. They had the DVD version, and not that many copies, and I know they didn't sell any since I was the first person in the store. This one is really good about not putting stuff out early. In fact, they almost never have their games out in the morning when they first come out. F.E.A.R. took them three days to put out. (Yes, I go there almost every morning.) Premonition took them three days to put out. I know Best Buy will match their price, but I wanted to use a gift card to purchase it, which I can't use at Best Buy. So, now I am stuck waiting until they put it out, or buy at Best Buy and use the gift cards for something else. I don't know if they are not getting them in time or what, but you would think that if they had the DVDs they would have the Blu-ray. BTW they don't have the HD DVD out either which was also in their advert from Sunday.

I called Target this morning to check and see if they had 300. After waiting on the phone line for over 5 mins I was told that they are sold out. Its 8:45 AM and they sold out?!?!

I asked the clerk how that could be since the movie came out today and he said he didn’t know. At that moment I wanted to reach through the receiver and choke that sob.

I don’t know why they call it a Super Target… I don’t see how it could be super in any fashion!

I am thinking that for some reason they are not getting their Blu-ray releases before they are out. This happens all the time. The put them out two to three days after they are supposed to go on sale. I was there right when the doors opened because I was on my way to work. This has been the going trend. Same thing happened way back when Saw III came out. I think Ghost Rider was delayed too.

I just got back from the very “Super” Target that I called this morning and bought the supposed “sold out” 300 on Blu-ray. I suspected that the electronics clerk didn’t have a clue.

Anyways I wasn’t the only person at that Target getting a Blu-ray copy of 300. Thought that was a good sign.

The Target Blu-ray of 300 is $24.99, so $1.11 more, not $5 more. Plus, don't want to pay $75 just so I can upgrade. I typically get free shipping anyway, So the extra fee is an added expense. I cancelled my order with Amazon because, as of Sunday, they hadn't shipped it yet. ( I preordered it as soon as it was available to preorder) Even when I do preorder they typically don't ship until the day it is released, I usually get them Saturday after they are released. Anyway, I wanted to buy it at Target because I have a Target gift card so doing it this way would cost me nothing. And believe it or not, most people do not buy online.
