Exclamation Black and white or green Blu-ray

Hi

This is probably a really simple problem to fix but i'n not brilliant when it comes to this sort of thing so please excuse me if this is stupid...

I'm trying to play Planet Earth on bluray on my PS3... when i use the normal cable that came with the playstation the picture is all black and white but still plays the footage............When i use the new RGB PS3 cable i got off ebay for about £4 the picture is completely green yet still plays the footage.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks x

ok it might be a problem with you're tv but either way i'd suggest using an HDMI cable instead of the regular components the ps3 comes with. if you know someone with one give it a try first. if not there are many places online to purchase inexpensive hdmi

well are you using an hdtv? has it done this before with standard dvd? has someone messed with your color settings? if the tv is recently new have you tried to just reset the manufactuer settings?

I had the same issue when I first tried playing a BD on my PS3 with my SDTV, it was B&W and grainy. Its now fine on an HDTV. I believe its what BDs on standard definition TVs because of the much higher resolution stored on the discs.

Make sure you have both ends connected to the right ports.

Make sure you're matching the colors on the cables to the right ones, component (red, green blue) to component, or composite (yellow) to composite).

Blu on an SDTV looks fine

If you're getting B/W you probablly have the Y (luminance) component/green cable mixed up with composite cable inputs (yellow) or viceversa. For example if you connect the composite video cable (yellow) to the Y-Luminance green input on your TV you get a b/w image with the color objects on it showing a checkerboard/screen door interference pattern effect overlayed on them (in b/w of course)

If you conect the component Y-Luma green cable signal into the composite video input (normally you conect the yellow cable there) you only get the B/W part (Y) of the component's Yrb signal (green red blue cables)

Now for the other part,. If you're getting Green images, you are miixing up RGB signals with Yrb signal too so probably need to change the display settings on the PS3 or the display from RGB to Yrb (Ycrcb or Yprpb). or viceversa
