Movies Anywhere - Not Available In 4K

The below titles are streamable in 4K on Vudu. They have been added to the list.

It has been added to the list. The list is growing in the wrong direction.

They Live has digital 4k versions out. I just made this info on the 4k thread for it:

I just saw it was $4.99 at iTunes today and decided to check all of the Movies Anywhere vendors.

No one else has a digital UHD version, and as far as I can see Movies Anywhere doesn't say that 4k resolution is currently available.

Lastly, though, I'd like to note the UK has the Studio Canal version in 4k Dolby Vision!

Thanks for the info. They Live is part of the list of movies which are not streamable in 4K on Movies Anywhere.

What's worse is that the US version of They Live is only in stereo, compared to 5.1 for the UK 4K DV version

Dolby Stereo (with a 4-channel matrix) is the original audio format of the movie.

If you look below the play button, it states this title is not available in 4K. I don't see this on the iOS app but if you use the Apple TV app, it will display this information.

Jaws 2 is available in 4K HDR on Vudu. It has been added to the list of movies not streaming in 4K on MA.

To check a title that you don't own, go to that movies page and if Movies Anywhere has a 4K HDR available for streaming it will show this under Additional Info.

Unfortunately, this method doesn't work for movies that stream in 4K but don't have HDR or DV. Examples are Funny Girl and The Tourist.

Hi, I've been redeeming most of my iTunes codes today. But, despite most of them being in 4K, they show up as SD on MA. Which is kind of odd. Especially when they have those title on sale in 4K.

A thought came, that maybe I should disconnect the MA from iTunes and later reconnect them. A process that supposedly would take 180 days apparently. The theory is once reconnected those SD would upgrade to match their 4K iTunes counterparts.

Has anyone else ever tried this? Assuming you're coming across the same.

If they’re porting sd, then they didn’t actually redeem HD/4K on iTunes. You’re looking at the wrong section in iTunes for your actual quality. Check the iTunes Store page (not via the ATV app) or the library section of the ATV app. The best way is go to reportaproblem.apple.com to check you recent purchases as it will say HD or 4K.

I bet you’ve been redeeming those old disc/xml based codes (usually all digit codes) which always redeems SD.

The thing is most have been coming as 4K on the ATV, but on MA they show as SD. So, if the ATV/iTunes is 4K then shouldn't it show the same on MA? Because up until now MA has copied the same resolution as the other apps connected.

Though it sounds like what you're saying is even if the movie is in 4K, MA will just use SD regardless because there mostly the codes that used to have to insert the DVD.

EDIT:
Was able check on the TV again and sadly all the so-called 4K iTunes, except Star Trek 2009 for some reason, are in 480p with DV, HDR10/+. Perhaps I'll be able to get Apple to fix it if I'm lucky. Just report that these "4K" titles are 480p instead of 2160p and maybe they'll fix it. Worth a shot any.
