Yea, well, I heard the DC suck, so I may skip this release.

Mastering and new extras cost a lot when average Joe baulks at paying >AU$40 for a local disc. It all adds up to a situation where the maths don't reconcile. We've seen distributors come and go regularly because they can't sell minimum volumes of discs to keep funding future releases.

I'm not talking shit about Imprint; I really think our local landscape has improved with their presence. The point of this was (hopefully) help provide some insight into what we have locally and also help temper expectations
Yep, when it comes to Blu-Ray and UHD, we really do get shafted in Australia.

Except for DVD, that shithouse archaic technology still sells well among the proles.

Just finished it. I thought the Theatrical Cut looked really healthy. I don't own the German release so I can't compare, but there's a commendable bit rate (high 30s for a majority of the film) solid pop and depth to the image, and a decent grain field for the most part (although I would expect more for a film of this age/era). I'm definitely not disappointed. If a 4k came out, I'd probably snag it as well as I'm a big Walter Hill fan, but I wouldn't be first off the ranks. This release wil keep me quite happy for some time. And it even comes with a free beer coaster (i.e. the "Director's Cut")! What's not to love?

I had to turn it off about 30 min in due to things happening around me when I was trying to watch, but I definitely agree with your views.

I did notice that in classic Imprint fashion, compression seemed a bit spotty during very dark moments, but otherwise very healthy.

That beer coaster isn't free, if it was this set would cost the same a single disc
I suspect that any 4K release of this would only include the DC anyway.

Mine shipped from DiabolikDVD this morning

Can't wait to revisit the theatrical cut. Going to double bill it with Streets of Fire.

This is a phenomenal release, but holy moly the AI upscaled TV spot is a terrifying monstrosity.

Ordered this today off JB along with the new Spider-man 4K 3 Movie set, great use of the B1G1F deal.

Saw the theatrical cut on Netflix a few years ago and loved it, glad there's finally a release of it.

Diobolik shipped mine. For the love of God, please at least be a 3 out of 5 transfer, and I'll gladly take it, just to have the theatrical!

Did a quick check, and there's no authoring error as there is on the '84 Entertainment release, although both appear sourced from the same transfer.

Is the text angled on the back of anyone else's box?
