It's definitely the same source, with a higher bit-rate, but that's about it. I'd say this is one of Imprint's better compression encodes but the difference between it and the German mediabook which I own is negligible, they're very similar. Imprint's disc has a higher bit-rate, the German mediabook looks like it has, if anything, slightly better encoding. I'd call it a wash.

Thanks for that. I'll stick with the mediabook in hope a 4K may appear at some point.

I’m still awaiting a ship notice from deep discount, but as long as this is better than my dvd copy, I’ll be pleased.

I received mine earlier today from Diabolik. Do you mean the "specs" card sticker on the back of the box? I usually just remove those and stick them inside the boxes on these Indicator box-type releases. All of the text appears level on mine, not angled...

Thanks for the reply. No, I meant the text printed on the back of the lid. Mine seems to be an anomaly.

Nope, mine looks straight and aligned on that. It's probably just a slight printing or assembly error of the lid.

I just hope my copy arrives in perfect condition. I regret not knowing about this release in time to get Diabolik to get it for me. But I want to make sure I get it, and Deep Discount was the way to go. Hope I don't regret it.

I'm really tempted to get this, but I have a feeling that this will either come remastered from Paramount, or a boutique label that has a distribution deal with Paramount. I think I might just hold out.

If Paramount themselves do eventually remaster it, or simply re-release the Theatrical versions on Blu-ray themselves, I'd almost bet it wouldn't include the new bonus features. The Imprint Blu-ray of Let It Ride was later issued by Paramount in the US, but included none of those bonus features, even though it was also a BD-50 disc.

It's probably a small miracle that Imprint included the Deleted Scenes on disc this time.

The sole good chance might be if Shout! Factory got it, and were able to gain access to the new bonus features like they're doing with the forthcoming Fire in the Sky release.

For the theatrical cut, the 2.0 audio track is supposed to be mono, but it's definitely not. Is it a mix-down?

Here is a comparison of the L and R channels of the 2.0 track. The R channel has been inverted, and the "Mix" (bottom waveform) is the 2 channels mixed together. The 2 channels are quite different (stereo).

[The inversion of one channel is done to demonstrate the difference between the channels; if the channels were the same (mono), inverting one and mixing them together would yield a flat line, 0dB, i.e., they would "cancel" each other out completely.]

If you're in the US and you bought in JB Hifi's B1G1 sale, used 10% off code 92FRENZY, and got a refund on GST, you'd end up paying $23 USD for it. I bought a bunch of single disc Imprint titles for around $11.50 each, plus some boxed sets.

I just looked at their site and didn't see this release on there! Plus that sounds..a bit complicated? Where's the cheapest place to get this without needing to do some thing with returns etc?

Well, I tell ya, I'm quite happy with how this release turned out. The transfer looks quite nice to me. I'm certainly not a person who gets 3 inches from my screen and combs over every pixel, but I know a bad transfer when I see one. (Viewing on an upper tier 65" LG 4K TV from 2018ish)

And I'm very, very happy with the audio, especially coming from the substandard, lossy audio on the original North American release. This DTS-HD Master encode is definitely a very noticeable improvement.

I don't really score picture quality because opinions vary so wildly on actual number scores, but it's certainly well above the average I would expect out of a Blu-ray. This is all regarding the theatrical cut, obviously. I promptly set the Director's Cut disc on fire.

Now that this pricey release has made it into my collection, I expect Paramount to announce a North American 4k Blu-ray next month. LOL

2.0 on the theatrical is definitely stereo. Most likely a mixdown of the 5.1.

I could have sworn the original info released said the track would be mono, but Imprint's official site now indicates 2.0 stereo for both cuts.

This is a great set otherwise, but that's frustrating.

Do you have to ask for GST refund or is it done automatically later? Because I was charged the full price.

I'm not super familiar when it comes to the audio mix for this film. Were there a lot of changes to the 5.1 track? Always a bummer when discs don't include the original audio, but how different would this stereo mix-down be from the original mono? Just curious.

You have to submit a request through CS to get a GST refund. You'll get 10% back.
