Default What Does Best Buy Promoting Blu-Ray Mean?

I mean, they can't tell their Employees what to say, My boss tells me every day that HD-DVD is Better, and I still sell BDP-S500s like there's no tomorrow.

What does this even mean? Is it them just telling us "We as a Company Like Blu-Ray, but that doesn't really matter"

Hopefully it means "The bogo's for HD DVD we've had for the past two weeks have been clearance sales and once we're out of discs, we're not ordering any more." Otherwise, apparently they're going to have some displays to promote Blu-ray further.

What it should mean is that Best Buy is going to do their best job to promote bluray as the next gen movie media and that it will only recommend HD-DVD to those "who insist"

Awesome News. Its also very bad business for BB to continue selling DUD players at this point as a viable, competitive HD format to choose. BB is in for the long run (unlike Toshiba) and need these HD customers to return for all future purchases. You don't want the Frankenstein mob showing up at BB with pitch forks and torches.

Only problem is, is that they were all returned a week later for a full refund or a real HD player...

BB worker: "ok bye"
BB worker: "side note, geek squad doesnt do anything, all they do is take your broken item and send it in to get fixed, most of the time they dont know whats wrong even if you tell them"

This won't apply to buying movies. They asume you already have the DUD player. But try and ask a rep about you hearing DUD is winning this war from an HD DUD site. Ask them about a DUD player? See what they say?

I dont think anyone on Earth actually believes HD DVD still has even a .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance to gain a studio back, but its not right to advise people to not buy something...If someone is short on money and they see a high definition player for 150.00 and the worker says, you should get a blu ray player instead because HD DVD is going to be extinct in a year, now the customer goes to look at the Blu players and sees them starting at 400.00. That worker will see that person walk out of the store nice and fast. They just lost 150.00

I don't work for BB, but my guess it means

This way we cover our a$$ with these dumb consumers that bought HD DVD because we warned them to buy BD and it is all their own doing.

It will be mostly in advertising. Best Buy commercials will only show Blu-ray. Also, Best Buys will have Blu-ray promotional displays... maybe with a really nice TV and Blu-ray playing, but no such display for HD-DVD.
