Don’t suppose anyone knows if we will get the Sony UHD reissues with DV here locally? The one I am most interested in is the newer Bram Stokers Dracula which makes the old UHD look like a BD…

Maybe we will get a silent release when stock of the first versions run out of stock? (Wishful thinking)

Nice. I can still remember going to watch this at the Prince Charles cinema just off Leicester Square when I was at university.

Welp already have the US release in hand, so another skip, plus they'll probably overcharge for it like blues brothers, and almost famous . Can they not announce anything faster ? I've avoided picking up many kino lorber titles since they messed up silence of the lambs. Hopefully Via Vision can get some of their titles like paths of glory , Tropic thunder, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind , etc).

Yep. Though to be fair to Via Vision in this case, it's a few weeks between announcements, not years like the Blues Brothers (March 10 2020 vs October 27 2022), but yeah, I can understand why you'd opt for an overseas version given the track record for local releases. Hopefully it's a reasonably normally-priced release like the Blues Brothers.

I want to buy those Sony UHD reissues as well. There was BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA, MEN IN BLACK, GROUNDHOG DAY, LABYRINTH, GHOSTBUSTERS (1984), and maybe a few others too.

They should put a sticker on the packaging to make it obvious that they are new 4K discs with Dolby Vision. Those are all well known and popular catalog releases so it would make sense to release them in Australia, right? I hope Sony will release some of them in Australia.

Yeah I wouldn't hold your breathe. Sony catalogue titles in Australia have dried up. There hasn't been a single back catalogue Sony title released in Australia in 2022. Let that sink in. Not single title released or going to be released in all of 2022!! The last Sony back catalogue titles were Final Fantasy and the Karate Kid box set in December last year. So given that Sony has decided to stop releasing older titles on 4K in the local market the chances they will reissue a title that's been already released (DV enhanced or not) is, I would say, less than zero. And it kinda shows how its the studios themselves making these decisions, not the local distributor USHE who are still putting out a selection of back catalogue titles from Universal and Paramount but yet literally nothing from Sony.

For future 4k movie's I always look at STACKS but lately the URL is diverted to Jb's.
has other noticed this?.
Avatar 4K The Way Of water is being released on 26 April 2023 on disk, I can't wait for this movies as the original Avatar in 1080p on our Sony 85Z8H and using the Panasonic UB 9000 player is the best ever 2k movie I've ever watch mainly the colour gamut so by this I expect with original 4K movie with strong peak brightness, good wide colour gamut, and the tv upscale to 8K it should be a winner.

Yes I like to find out whats available in the future, like 2 months time. Now you can't do this. What will happen I will look at Amazon US and If I see a 4K movie or a collection of them, I will forget the Australian dollar and buy them

Umbrella is trying to secure the rights to THE LOVED ONES (2009), since Feb when I informed them Madman no longer distributes it.

I imagine it'll be a Beyond Genres title.

I really want Second Sight or 101 Films or even Shout! to release their own CE so Umbrella can have extras to license. Otherwise I don't imagine Madman will give them everything nor will Umbrella produce their own extras or film new interviews. And given the production value of recent efforts by Umbrella at collector's editions, indie labels really gotta be thrifty.

TWO editions of TLO in 2023? Please!

Apparently the DV remaster of Bram Stoker's Dracula is the one to get.

KICKS - there's only one 4K preorder on the KICKS website (Halloween Ends).

How about releasing some of these catalog titles that have just come out in America?

WAYNE'S WORLD
PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES
48 HRS.
ANOTHER 48 HRS.
R.I.P.D.

There's also some upcoming catalog releases as well - how about:

MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING
DOUBLE JEOPARDY
THE REMAINS OF THE DAY
THE MASK OF ZORRO

PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES 4k is a terrible release, let the rest of the world keep their crappy release. Id personally love some of the titles from the Colombia classics collection , the trial (assuming we arent getting the new canal release) , some of the kino lober titles like (paths of glory, tropic thunder, dressed to kill, In bruges, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind ) , shouts upcoming carrie 4k, , mvd's rain man.
