I don't think this release date is sticking. Same for Duel and Kickass. Doom already has preorders active at multiple retailers and coverart - something which is lacking for the other 3 titles (unless I'm mistaken, it's only the Stack upcoming list where these 3 are mentioned?).

Would love to be proved wrong though...

Yeah don't think they are happening either. At least not on the dates Stack has. Honestly the dates on Stacks website should always be taken with a grain of salt till they actually appear for preorder on one of the online retailers (JB itself or Sanity, ezyDVD, Amazon.au etc). Same as you said for Duel and Kick-ass. A 4K of Kick-ass from Universal (the Australian distributor) is apparently coming to Germany on September 15th so we might not get that one it till closer to that date.

There have been other times - such as a recent The Driver on 4K listing that Stack put up - where the release date comes and goes with no preorders eventuating and Stack just removes it from their list.

Definitely won't be Sony. The rights to it are all over the place, all the local BD releases have been ports of various inferior sources through Via Vision.

There has been a listing on Stack for a few weeks: War Of The Worlds, The | UHD 25-Aug-2022

I thought this was just a UHD only reprint of the Tom Cruise movie but then when I saw the news about the US getting The War of the Worlds (1953) soon I realised that the modern movie doesn't have 'the' in front of it. I haven't seen it listed anywhere else yet and Stack has proven to be unreliable so I consider it unconfirmed at this stage.

The rights for the Evil Dead franchise have always been messy.
As far as I'm concerned Sony was in charge of the 4K for "The Evil Dead", and StudioCanal pushed out "Evil Dead II" under their Classics Remastered line in 2019. I think ViaVision owns the rights to "Army of Darkness" down under, so it probably won't get a 4K here (not from them at least). It's a shame because the previous releases from them are all BD25s that don't look too good.

VV has released several BD versions here, not 4Ks. I doubt they'll get into 4K for a while yet. I doubt they have any dealings with Shout, their theatrical disc was a port of the Universal disc from the UK. Studio Canal doesn't have any rights to AOD anywhere, so forget about them. They only own Evil Dead 2 for territories outside North America. If there's ever a non-US 4K of AOD, it'll likely be through Universal.

That's great news! The changing dates indicates that both will be released, because if they were cancelled you'd think they would just vanish from Stack.

I went to the Stack website and also saw a listing for LICORICE PIZZA for September 1st. That's a Thursday, so it seems like September 1st must be either a placeholder date, or LICORICE PIZZA was mistakenly listed on Stack.

KICKS Australia - there’s also some more upcoming 4K discs that could be released in Australia too. I’d buy all of these except for REAL GENIUS.

REAL GENIUS: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Real-...lu-ray/318418/

CRAWL: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Crawl-4K-Blu-ray/319821/

I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/I-Kno...lu-ray/319377/

BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA (new 4K disc): https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Bram-...lu-ray/319180/

FRIGHT NIGHT: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Frigh...lu-ray/320147/

Sony's Blu-rays of I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER and FRIGHT NIGHT have been out of print in Australia for a long time. I think those two in particular would sell very well on 4k in Australia!

JB Hifi NZ just added a small selection of imported Criterion UK titles to their upcoming release list. 50 bucks each for most of them.
