Movie Ticket Stubs - Blu-ray Forum

Anyone collect their movie stubs? I don't really collect them per se, but I've never thrown them away either. While cleaning out some old boxes the other day I found my original Scream (1995) and Fled (1996), Multiplicity stubs among others. I have a bunch of my ticket stubs in with my bluray and DVDs, but finding Fled and Scream was a huge hooray moment for me. I was genuinely excited. Both are some of my favorite films. And having these stubs takes you back to that time, a physical memento of the memories we can't hold.

Last year I found my Mortal Kombat (1995) and Independence Day (1996) stubs among some others. It's been really cool finding these things.

I’ve kept mine since I turned 20. It helped out when I complied a list of every movie I’ve seen in my lifetime at the theater. Our main theater had really nice tickets before the standard now of just printing them in receipt paper. Nowadays, my tickets are difital.

I've kept most of mine for the past 15 years or so. If I buy the movie, I slip it into the case, then when I watch the movie again, I'm reminded of going to the theatre with my Dad or a few friends. Good times.

Ever since I was a kid, I tried to collect all my stubs. After moving 2 years ago, I decided to pool them all together in a binder. Of course, its not complete as stubs went missing over the years, or my parents/friends tossed them before I was able to hold on to it, but it's still a decent collection of my theater experience. I believe the first stub in the book is Mortal Kombat from 1995.

I used to, but they started printing it on really cheap paper and the ticket fades over a short period of time. It became a waste of time after that.

I saved just about every stub since December 1985 for Rocky IV way back when they had "2.50 Tuesdays!". I was 12 at the time but had the foresight to write down what movie it was as the tickets usually just said "Cinema 2" etc.

That's awesome. I'd love to see some pics of the book sometime if you're up to it...

The only stubs I ever used to keep were ones for showings of classic movies on the big screen (like the 30th anniversary Ghostbusters in 2014 and the 40th anniversary Jaws in 2015 that happened to fall on my birthday

), but since theaters re-opened after the Pandemic shutdowns in late August of 2020, I've started keeping all of them, even for movies I didn't end up liking. It's nice to be able to pop them into the eventual Blu/UHD cases when I buy them.

Yeah exactly! I enjoy that lil piece of connectivity so much for some reason... Having the stub in the case just is full circle somehow.

I've kept all of mine for years now. I had them stacked by year, with rubber bands, but I'm not sure where they are at the moment. I still have a lot of stuff in storage from a move some years ago.

Since said move, I have a much smaller, disorganized collection. 99% of the movies I see are at AMC. They keep a digital record that I sometimes go back and look through. Funnily enough, I can often recall more about the experiences (what theater, who I was with, etc.) than I can about the movies themselves.

Ive kept mines since I was about 16, including movies Ive watched abroad, in total I think I've got stubs from 9 countries (Id have more but for some reason when I go with people I never save the stubs). I also kept those little pamphlets (or programs) they give along with the ticket in some countries.

I dont know if some of you are on the same boat, but despite not having a great memory (and its getting alot worst with age) I do have a very vivid recollection of my theater experiences (sounds a bit naughty but it isnt.. sadly) while I can barely remember a movie I watched a few days ago in my home theater.

Absolutely, I can remember seeing so many movies in the theatre like Dick Tracy, Batman, Highlander II, etc, etc. But also like you I'm beginning to lose some of the memories due to age. I'm 44 (Good grief that feels weird to admit), so keep mementos of movies helps me retain those memories. I'm a very sentimental and nostalgic person to begin with...

And this is quite ridiculous to say, but I feel like I have a closer connection to those films I saw in the theatre than maybe someone else (like it's a competition lol) because I've held onto those stubs, if that makes any sense whatsoever.

Like finding my Scream stubs somehow makes me more of a Scream fan than someone who doesn't have that experience or their stub; like I said, it's incredibly childish, I know. But it's in there deep in my psyche, the inner child.

How funny I should come across this thread.

I have collected my ticket stubs since I was a kid, but not until I was a teenager did I take it seriously. So there are numerous stubs that I am missing from my earlier years. As an adult, I have rented small apartments with limited wall space, but this past year I moved into my own home with plenty of wall space. I had all my stubs on a cork board that was connected to my computer desk in my room at my parents house and I've just added all my stubs to that over the years. Well last week I decided to take on the project of moving over all my stubs and hanging a cork board on the wall. It took a while and I noted each ticket in a Google Doc for reference (180 total), but I'm glad I did it because I've been wanting to do this for quite a while and it puts a smile on my face every time I walk by it

That's a beautiful board! Love it, I've also lost dozens over the years, but I think they are in boxes in my parent's basement, so I'm sure I'm going to come across many of them one day...

I at least found some of my favorites.

Do you have a list? I can't read them all on the pic.

I've been collecting mine since I was in high school, and have them in a binder using trading card sleeves. They've been holding up pretty well in there!

Last movie I saw in theaters was 1917, and I'm excited to start filling up those pages again.

Just started a few years ago. It would funny to have all those Octopussy or whatever PG movie was playing when my underage ass snuck into Terminator or Friday the 13th part 4 and 5 for though.

Now I keep em and put em in the dvd/bd case, although there's a few I never bothered to get on home video like Dead Don't Die and Invisible Man. Hated DDD, just didn't like IM.

I did find most of my old concert stubs though. Sadly some didn't survive the shows since I was always in the pit and stage diving if possible. All the Gwar Shows didn't make it home and a few others, sadly including my first ever show (Iron Maiden, Powerslave tour with Twisted Sister). I do have from Dio at Cobo in 1985 on up, mostly. It's the shows at Blondies and Harpos that usually got fubar with sweat and other fluids in my pockets.

Been collecting them since Summer of 2000.
Though as someone else said, the paper being used nowadays is crappy and I've had to write on some of the tickets what the movie was. Pretty bad I have tickets from 2000 lasting longer than ones from 2021.

Crazy seeing the prices rise over the years.

I've long contemplated a board like Zorn88 is doing, but I would need a LOT more wall space. As I've gotten older, the idea has seemed less attractive and practical. I'd need to either choose a few hundred highlights, have it custom framed and thereby have a static display, or dedicate an entire wall to cork for a dynamic display that I constantly add to.

For several years before surrendering to using the e-mailed QR code on my phone, I'd print a full-size sheet of paper to be scanned by the ticket "taker" at Arclight Hollywood. So that's another space challenge: Dozens and dozens of tickets are 8.5" x 11" sheets of paper.

Zorn, how are you attaching each stub to the corkboard--push pin?

Maybe you could use just one cork board and just choose some favorites?

I have 5 Donnie Darko movie stubs from when the 15th year anniversary rerelease and i have them in a 11 x 17 poster frame with a small poster in it with the stubs at the bottom.
