I just noticed that the complete series of Colombo is being offered as a box set on Blu-ray in Japan. I found it on Amazon Japan, but unlike Canada, UK and France, I have never ordered anything (as an American in the USA) from Amazon Japan.
I do have several region-free Blu-ray players and happily use them to play region-locked disks from UK/France, but I wonder if I can do the same and place the item on Amazon.co.jp in the shopping cart, login using the same American credentials and get it shipped state-side. Anyway have any feedback on ordering Japanese issues Blu-rays from Amazon Japan and getting them shipped to the states? |

Create a new Amazon account for amazon.jp
Google Chrome will translate the site somewhat. Shipping from Amazon.jp is safely packed compared with many locations. If an item wont ship to the US from amazon, use Tenso.com. they will secure your identity with a few proofs, then have amazon ship to them, they ship to you. Japan is Region A, since you're in the US (it sounds like) Check with CDJapan and yesasia.com for prices, sometimes I've come out better there. CDJapan will accept paypal too. If you need subtitles, research it first as 99% of my Japanese releases do not have English subs. Germany also has this out, but i think it has lossy audio, but quite a bit less expensive |

Don't get excited. There is no German Bluray release beyond the single story By Dawns Early Light.
Blurays of other seasons listed on Amazon Germany are the first 2 seasons of the abandoned Australian release The Japanese release has been available for 6 years. I'd contact Fabulous Films who currently have a deal with Universal so with them you might get it for sub £150 but if they're not interested you should get the Japanese set and enjoy it |

I notice that the first seven seasons are available on freevee now, via Amazon Prime, and they're all in pristine HD.

Just hold out for an US release, it's only 11 years since this came out......crazy......maybe in the next 10 or 20 years a Mill Creek release will surface.. :-)

I'd wait. There's some speculation that Kino might release it, I believe.

Its not 'pristine'. The pq varies from show to show. This is Universal we are writing about here.
Kino wrote in its thread its not going to do a Colombo release. |

I reached out to Universal via email 2yrs ago about a US Blu-ray Columbo release and they told me they have no intentions of releasing a set because there is no strong demand for it.
