Me too. I have been waiting for a decent blu of "City of God" for a very long time. I doubt Imprint will have a new/better transfer than what we already have though, since they are saying 1080p transfer, which is unfortunate. Though Imprint will at least give us some decent supplements, like a video essay (unless they axe them again).
The Roland Joffé box set looks interesting. I have been wanting to get the Korean steelbook for "The Mission" for quite a while now, so I am happy that we are getting a director's box set instead. For those who got the Jim Sheridan box set that was released recently, did they have any extras that spanned all the discs and tied everything together in a neat director's retrospective and showed how all the films fit into the director's oevre? Also wondering when we will get the Walter Hill box set that was announced not too long ago? So far there is no release date. Also great that they are following their neo noir box set up with another volume for those that have it. I also thought about getting the first volume, but decided against it primarily due to space reasons, but also because some of the films are not must haves and the transfers are also old apparently. Maybe I'll get the Kinos for one or two films from this box set. Or should I have bought it? It's still available from JB... ![]() I also hope that Imprint will finally wait for newer transfers on those releases where one is in the works already. I recently cancelled my order for "The Counterfeit Traitor" after reading the poor review on this site and seeing that Kino are about to do a 4K scan for this film. Similarly, Kino will also be releasing a 4K transfer (in 2K) for "The Detective" from Imprint's first noir box set, the only film that was exclusive (so far) to this box (which means I won't be getting this box set, as I have the other three films already). Two of the sports films from last month's anouncements will receive the UHD treatment from Kino Lorber. So naturally, I will get the American discs here as well (admittedly though, Imprint's slipcovers are better than Kino's). And now I have finally been burnt on "Audrey Rose". I thought you could do no wrong with a long-OOP MGM-Twilight-Time title, but alas, I was incorrect. Arrow is now coming out with a new 2K restoration (of course, after all, it's horror). Maybe I will have to double dip another time for "Cutter's Way" as well. Fun City Editions are rumored to be coming out with a new blu-ray of that one. |

Some strong movies in this batch... but as others have said... most are available elsewhere. I may bite on the Neo Noir boxset dependent on the extra features (for 'Blue Steel', 'The Yards', 'Internal Affairs', 'Narc' etc).
'Ladies And Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains' is the ultimate cult classic though... so that is Day One. Diane Lane is ferocious in that film. ![]() |

Surprised there isn't an existing, separate thread for the Imprint (Via Vision) release of Outrage (have done a thread search in the Australia sub-forum). Am looking into possibly getting the Imprint release of this Ida Lupino-starring film, having checked out the Blu-ray.com review of it. Any sign of a North American Blu-ray release of it?

This has probably been covered but I'm gonna ask anyway -- Is ViaVision's overseas shipping decent? Do they pack everything well? I'm considering preordering the After Dark 2 set but am terrified it won't make it all the way to middle America in one piece...

I don't know. I keep getting all their stuff through DiabolikDVD in the States. And everything has shown up just fine. I got the first After Dark set through DiabolikDVD.

dr, you should start a thread for the Imprint edition of Outrage. I've done a thread search for threads in the Australia sub-forum and can't find an existing thread specifically for this film. |
