How is ordering direct from Imprint these days (shipping to the US)?
JBhifi was a train wreck. And the places in the US that stock these (DeepDiscount, mostly) end up being more expensive, because they're baking in some of the shipping costs. And then there are local taxes added on. Direct is actually cheaper, at least if you're ordering a bunch. |

The Collaborations set was several $ cheaper from ImportCDs than it was ordering direct.
I was pricing out the single disc titles and it seemed like a 4+ title order was averaging around $34 per title direct, which is just about what they are on DD- and less if you use a coupon. Plus, if there is an issue, they'll be much easier to return to a domestic retailer. I've been a big proponent of ordering foreign discs direct, rather than going through Diabolik. That was mostly buying UK discs from Amazon pre pandemic. With the Imprint releases, I'm not seeing a lot of positives going direct, but I do see some big potential negatives. |

Got my boxset today (Sunday?). Just flicked through them and they all look good however it is clear that Shanghai Trait, Curse of the Golden Flower & Coming Home look much better than all earlier films.
Wouldn't be surprised if something better came along sometime in the future.........maybe. But maybe not. I was also surprised to find that I only already had Raise the Red Lantern & The Story of Qiu Ju on DVD and Shanghai Triad & Coming Home on Blu Ray. Very odd - I could have sworn I had purchased them but I can't find them and they aren't on the manual electronic list of what I own so I must have at some point sold them off? Did anybody order Big Screen British Comedy, featuring the cinema films Dad's Army, Steptoe and Son, Steptoe and Son Ride Again and Are You Being Served?
The last note I got from Imprint they said they were expecting the stock on 8th Oct. I was hoping it would ship in the next couple of days... |

I've seen a few oop Imprint L.E. titles being re-released in standard editions, and they're a lot cheaper, but they have the rating label on the front sleeve which doesn't look big enough
![]() Do the Imprint standard editions have reversible sleeve without the rating label? |

![]() That's No Way To Treat A Lady, and according to the website they sold out the LE but can't see the standard, but weren't they planning to reissue it? Last edited by UnionJackMix; 10-13-2021 at 10:31 AM. |

They also are releasing a standard edition of Breakdown already despite JB having plenty of stock of the limited edition. |

I mean, maybe their releases are not as sought after like Indicator and Eureka, when there is a slight hint that it's close to selling out, scalpers buy up all the copies and that period between label sell-out and stores sell-out is negligeable? |

No Way To Treat A Lady A Place in the Sun The Carpetbaggers Night Falls on Manhattan The Day of the Locust Major Dundee Essential Film 1 At Close Range I just noticed they actually have 11 copies of Breakdown's limited edition available themselves. With the first few standard editions they released it definitely seemed like they were waiting for all stores to sell out of the limited edition first. (Wave 1, When Worlds Collide) |

I haven't bought many Imprint titles to date; The Day of the Locust, The Gambler, At Close Range and lastly Drugstore Cowboy, which I have to say has the most shocking PQ.
'Day of the Locust had its issues but due to the way Schlesinger wanted it to look ie. Gauzy & soft hued, it gets the benefit of the doubt. However, the speckles and pops throughout 'Cowboy in what is only a 32 year old film is inexcusable. Really distracted my viewing of what is a great film, buying with caution from this lot from now on. Have The Dead Zone & The Big Screen British Comedy set en route and I fear the worst, especially for the latter. |
