decent inexpensive movie poster frames?

Thanks! I'm replacing the Smokin' Aces poster with a Spider-Man one (to keep with the theme).

My frames are the following configuration:
Frames
- Size: 27x40 Deluxe Aluminum
- Cover: U/V Non-Glare Protective
- Backing: Foamcore
- Color: Satin Black
- Profile: C

And I really like them. They "look" much more expensive than they are, and they're very sturdy.

I don't think this place has any cheap shipping methods though...I paid over $20 to ship my order.

Nothing beats glass. If you can afford glass over plastic it just makes a nice movie poster look GORGEOUS.

Good service from this guy. I believe he's in Canada, so shipping state-side is a little slow. But for the price, these signs look really nice. Professionally done. They're a thick plastic-like material with shiny metallic writing. I like them a lot. I used some 3M velcro-like poster strips to hang them.

I just wanted to put this out there for folks who have smaller rooms or just want to be able to put up a bunch of posters with more limited wall real estate because of the size of the real life size ones.

There is a line of like 2 or 3 different series of these items; they are the official movie posters, but in a smaller size. Maybe like 13" X10" ????? They also come bordered and framed in very good quality. I think I want to say they are $19.99 each. There is Casino Royale, GodFather, ScarFace, Fight Club and a bunch of others. I will look for a linky.....

I've got a couple of 11x17's from a local theater that has midnight showings of cult/older movies, I'm thinking of sticking with that size and pick up a few more. My set-up is in a spare bedroom and like you said, wall space is at a premium.

I'd say give it a try yourself. Framing professionally is really expensive for what the materials and labor are. I've seen posts online about people just going to second hand shops, getting cheap frames, and doing it themselves with tape, backing board, and then sealing the print in. I haven't tried myself, but hope too in the future.

So, in closing, coming from someone with no real framing experience, I'd say go for it. Do it with a cheap poster you don't care much about to test, then try it out on the one you want.

It really depends on the poster itself. If the poster is either a collectible original or something very near and dear to you then I would recommend going with a professional framer, just make sure you use acid-free backing and if you get a lot of sunlight where it will be displayed go with UV-glass or UV-plexiglass.

If the poster doesn't have much value or you simply purchased a reprint because you liked the artwork I would not spend the money to have it professionally framed. If that is the case go with an inexpensive ready-made frame from Michael's Arts & Crafts or Aaron Brothers Framing, etc. Generally they have coupons in the Sunday newspapers. Also make sure its 27x41 inches, while that was the more common size for originals, just about everything from around 1992 or so is 27x40 when it the studio issued theatrical original movie posters.

To add to this, if you do go with a pre-made frame, I'd suggest getting a backing board with it as I picked up a few of these over the years and without any backing the posters tend to ripple inside the frame.
