Hello everyone!
I am a bit new to the forum so please forgive me if I am touching on a subject that has been covered. I have been looking for a Blu-Ray Burner that also will burn DVD's. Preferably a stand alone, not P.C. I was also wondering if the PS3 will support a burning function in the future. I know they would probably place a lock from copying games, but It would make that system a full circle box. I have herd rumors of something called Play-TV, an DVR option for the PS3. But have not had time to check that out. Thank You for your Time P.S. Sorry about starting thread in camcorders, thought I was up one level Ben Vizio L37 ......Only 1 HDMI ![]() Last edited by Shadow_IA; 11-02-2007 at 01:57 AM. Reason: Located in wrong forum catogory |

Every blu-ray burner as of nov 2006 that I know of will burn DVDs.
Note however they're still in the $400 range (unless you can find an occasional sale). Unless this is in a laptop and you're travelling, a DVD burner at $20 is a much better investment than to use your bd burner to burn dvds (optical burners are more finicky and can get out of alignment after too much use). Also, if you do get a burner, get an external USB enclosure, that way you can use the burner for other PCs. These 5" enclosures are available in lots of PC stores. I am using one made by vantec. I've been using two BD burners for about a year now, a matsushita one and a sony BWU-100a. I saw my BWU-100 2x BD burner at around $300 a while ago, but that's an old model, as the new BWU-200 is a 4x burner. The burners are made by LG, Lite-on, philips, pioneer, samsung, lg, sony, panasonic, matsushita. There are also combo drives that can READ BDs, but only burn DVDs. These are much cheaper. They're available in places like fry's. Online retailers like tigerdirect, newegg also carry them |
