Default The Beast (1988) Imprint #143

Couldn't find a thread for this release so I just made one.
If there's already a thread a mod can delete this.

I'm really surprised this finally got a Blu-ray release because this movie isn't very well known and made little money when it came out.

It's a gritty war movie about a Russian tank that gets lost in a desert during the Russia-Afghanistan war and gets hunted down by the Mujahideen.

The movie holds up really well. George Dzundza is great as a ruthless tank commander. Jason Patric is also great as a soldier with a conscience.

There's also a fantastic 2 hour making of documentary on the disc.

Can finally retire my DVD. Highly recommended.

I bought it a few weeks ago. I knew the movie already but the Blu-ray release is worth a recommendation.

yeah, I mean there are so few movies about tanks, and this one is the best IMO alongside Fury (which reigns supreme)

imprints release is very good, plenty of extras, good PQ and AQ

Thank you for the heads-up! I knew nothing of this flick and it sounds right up my alley.

I would definitely get this if importing from Australia wasn't so expensive. I think there's a French Blu-ray but unlikely to be English friendly for the Afghani dialogues.

THAT was my main consideration when I bought the Australian release.
