Default South Park in 2160p

Idk if anyone noticed this yet, but seasons 1-23 of South Park as well as the two Streaming Wars specials are available in 2160p on Amazon. Not only is it listed on the Prime Video listing as UHD, but I've seen 2160p AMZN rips circulating on RARBG. They're not in HDR and strangely enough Seasons 24-25 as well as the two Post-COVID specials are still only 1080p. I'm not sure if these are proper re-renderings like they did for Seasons 1-10 or if they're simply upscaled from the 1080p masters (most likely). Below are comparison shots for the 1080p and 2160p rips of Streaming Wars Pt. 1 so you can compare them for yourselves.

1080p

I think the P+ specials are in 4K; they just don't have HDR.

Matt & Trey have never really cared about how their work looks on home media.

When the transition to HD became a thing, the previously aired SD 4:3 seasons were remade for HD 16:9, after the source files were migrated from the old animation program or replaced with the newer ones, as needed. All the animation assets for the entire run of the show and the film and everything else that used the show's files, is kept intact for future re-rendering. I would not be surprised if the show had been re-rendered in 4K, as it makes sense for them to do that, given their past decision to do so for HD.

As this is a South Park thread, I hope the next new season is actually good unlike the 24th (or was it 25th? I can't remember anymore).

The Covid "specials" and the last season were very underwhelming so fingers crossed they manage to bring back South Park to a solid season again.

This whole time I thought season 25 was on break. Only six episodes eh? Oh well. I hope season 26 is good.

Season 25 was very confusing, some say it was about 6 episodes while others say it was 9 or 10 if you'd include the Covid specials (I didn't like them and won't watch them again, tbh).

Just give us 10 quality episodes and that's it. No "specials" or whatever.

Well there'll be 14 of those "specials" for Paramount+. 10 more to go

Are the re-released 2160p seasons native 4K? In the S01E02 at least the backgrounds in zoomed-in shots show some clear artifacting and are pixelated (but the foreground characters are pristine).

(I assume that the four Paramount+ specials are -- no reason not to be as they were released in the 2020s)

I just went to see if I could find some of those 2160p encodes on RARBG, and found that the site has been shut down. Much like the 25th 6-episode season, this sucks.

@nofear6061 I checked torrentleech.org (essentially a "semi-open" private tracker (frequent open sign-ups), they had both Amazon and HBO Max WEB-DL releases (seasons and individual episodes, S01 at least).

Joined the site (they're actually open now because RARBG closed down).. it's nice. Thanks for the heads up.
