I use mine 4-5 times a week for 2+ hours (sometimes much longer). I have had it since launch, not once have I had a issue with my neck. It’s a light, superbly designed headset.

I’m telling you, as someone who has owned the headset since launch (October 2016) and own 60 games, I have had ZERO issues. The headset is light, it’s designed to be comfortable. I have even watched 2 3D films back to back with a 10 minute break for snacks.

How can I be wrong? I know how I feel after using VR for several hours.
You are obsessed, go and buy a VR headset and use it for 3 years and get back to me. Maybe then you will be qualified to make such claims.

What you mention can be said of ANY console or technology. It’s just common sense that you rest and don't twist your head too much or make exaggerated movements. people get pain from console gaming (in their hands and fingers), again, that doesn’t stop 107 million people enjoying it with no issue.

This is not a VR headset but in my opinion, even better for watching 3D and non- 3D video. All HDMI components are compatible.

If you want a current market 3D display, the PS4 and the PSVR with the latest update for blu ray 3D playback in the stereo 3D gaming headset are a good option, but expensive.

The latest update for some reason forces me to play the audio from the jack on the PSVR headset, when before this update I got both picture and sound from my TV which was so much better than having to plug in headphones or speakers just to hear it. Sony messed that up at this point anyway.

There is a screen door effect to a slight degree when watching the stereo 3D movies, that kind of holds back the 3D effect slightly from a more pristine screen like on a 3DTV or a 3D Projector.

The PSVR headset is giant and bulky, and while it's comfortable for games, watching a movie on it is an option but good luck being able to see the snacks you're eating or while trying to drink a beverage. Almost impossible unless you have a straw. Then good luck putting it down if you don't have it all planned out. If you try to lay on your back and rest your head, the back bar of the PSVR digs into your head. It's not exactly comfortable.

All of that aside, it's a decent option for blu ray 3D playback since there are currently no more new 3DTVs being made since 2017, and all of those are sold out it seems.

Do yourself a favor and get checked for Alzheimer’s. I’ve informed you in the past that I have been using VR and always have the last HMD systems. The issue is real and the link supports me—not you.

Yes VR for movies in general is awful compared to a high-end home cinema.

But if you’re on a shoestring budget like some then I can see why they try to convince themselves (and others) that movies on VR is great.

I have a 77 inch LG G6 OLED. The finest 3D tv ever made as far as I’m concerned. And it wasn’t cheap.

VR 3D movies are a suitable alternative. Especially since 3D TVs are no longer made. I’ve converted all of my 3D discs and it’s a blast.

It’s not as good as my specific best 3D tv, but it’s definitely better than many 3D TVs - 3D TVs which led to the demise of 3D because they were disappointing pieces of junk.

He is a troll mate. No one has ever claimed that the VR headset is anywhere near the quality of a projector or good tv. Not boasting but I actually own all three and could even give a detailed breakdown of the experience across all three viewing methods but I think that point is lost on our resident troll.

There’s nothing unclear about what I wrote. VR headsets are much cheaper than your LG 3D OLED and I have a couple as well so I should know.

Despite our resident VR aficionado’s claims to the contrary, earlier I linked to studies that show head & neck strain are real and there is also eye strain from VR that is well documented as well. Clearly watching on a proper full resolution panel (like yours) or projected screen is preferable to VR despite that troll’s protestations of the studies.

You didn’t link to studies. You linked to a handful of people on a forum. Like, 7 or 8 People out of a pool of nearly 6 million PSVR, and well over 12 million in total. Even then, some of those folk were not convinced it was the headset causing the discomfort. On what planet is that proof? Your planet I guess? :

Also, I’m well aware of the advantages of watching 3D on a projector as that’s how I watch the majority of my titles. However, you seem to lack reading comprehension so I will repeat, PSVR is a viable option for those people who find themselves without another 3D option. It’s lose 3D or use their headset.
Now, the PSVR headset is a lightweight, comfortable headset that can be worn for hours on end. Like all headsets, one should take a break once in a while as like ANY screen, eye strain is a risk otherwise. That’s just common sense. Something you seem to lack.

By the way, 3D TV sets are very rare now, that’s kind of the point of the posts discussing the PSVR as a 3D player. Stop trolling as this thread is for that topic.
We know what the preferable way to watch is, that’s not the point of this thread. Maybe read the thread title again.

FWIW I bit on this over the fall. They keep working on the tech and design but hopefully out sometime this year. Really hopeful it provides even a better 3D experience than my LG E6P. The company claims this will upconvert blu ray 3d to better than 1080p but below 4k. I think technically 2.5K per eye, but I guess we'll see...

After my dreadful experience with the Royole Moon, I decided not to give up on a wearable solution and opted to try Oculus Quest 2, given that they offered a 30 day trial period, so there was no financial risk involved. I’ve got to say the experience couldn’t be any different. The headset is fairly comfortable once you get use to it, with zero eye strain or headaches so far.

I’ve so far only tried 3D via the “Bigscreen” app that comes preloaded, but to be honest, it’s such a great experience that I’ll likely not bother downloading any other media players. There were/are no 3D movies to hire in my region at the moment unfortunately, but I was able to connect my headset to a laptop and drag some 3D files across as though the headset was an external HD. I was able to view SBS and over/under with no issues, but the home movie files made Fuji film 3D camera do not play so far. This issue was the same problem on my projector, which claimed the resolution was not supported, so no doubt a solution can be found... It’s a shame that HDMI input isn’t supported, but who knows for the future.

The picture quality is more than decent and the fairly low res (720p I think) files I used to test it looked to me a bit better than on my Optima projector.

The best thing of all is that it actually does feel like you’re sat in a real cinema and the screen is huge, like an imax if you choose to load that environment. One of my standout cinematic moments is the cutscene from the force awakens where the star destroyer comes out of the screen. It stretched halfway across the cinema and was so impressive. I have an 80 inch projector screen at home and it never delivered that wow moment for this scene. I decided that this could be because of the blu ray encoding, but viewing in Bigscreen has delivered the whole experience.

Obviously VR has its limitations, which are well documented and argued over, but overall I’m impressed (amazed even.) Consider me converted and I fully recommend to anyone on the fence about it.

I like big screen and it's environments but I use skybox, a paid app but the quality is better than big screen and will play anything you throw at it, has spacial audio too.
I love the quest 2, the quality compared with the oculus go is quite a leap and I don't even watch my 3d TV anymore because of it, it's an amazing cinematic experience and would recommend it to any 3d enthusiasts. The Amazon prime app is pretty good too quality wise, not so much the Netflix one.
