But that was good enough because because the people who wanted to push the narrative that anyone who disliked Last Jedi was some toxic manbaby, just ran with their confirmation bias.
Yep it is all made up. Wrong.

Its Twitter. Its a bastion for total blabbery and BS. Nothing there is legit or factual whatsoever.

You can argue the ethics of the latter until you're blue in the face, but there's no need to generalize an entire gender as "toxic" just because its deemed socially acceptable by the moral police, and because you disapprove of what a few guys on the Internet are saying. I see and hear way more women putting people (including other women) down for their appearance than I do men, but would never chock it up to characteristics inherent to their gender. Why even specify male in your insecurity assumption? Wouldn't just plain old regular "insecurity" suffice without the bitter aftertaste of blatant sexism?

I'm not a Billie fan, but I respect her for writing her own material with only her brother as help. Most pop stars need 13 co-writers and as many producers to make one song nowadays. Disgraceful. Her appearance is totally inconsequential to me. I've seen far more outrageous looking musicians in the past.

Because we never see posts from guys complaining about a male actor/musician being in a film/documentary because they aren't attractive enough.

Because certain posters have a history of bans for genderphobic and sexist hate speech.

The concept of toxic masculinity and simply "being a man is toxic" are not the same thing.

What exactly is toxic masculinity anyways? Sounds like one of those "labels" that get slapped on people for "reasons". Like it’s no longer cool to be muscular, strong, etc. No alpha males allowed. No chopping wood or being a hunter/gatherer.

My oh my.

It's like it's no longer cool to blithely slander, condemn or vilify people based simply on their perceived lack of attractiveness, lack of sex appeal, unwillingness to conform to old stereotypes and gender ideals. And no longer cool for people to make themselves feel better by perpetuating those notions and imposing them on every aspect of the culture.

Never really liked her music. Good for her for working hard to get where she has gotten.

Though when I think of her, I think of her slight hypocrisy to body positivity.

I don't see it. She's talking about someone compensating for their body insecurity by wearing a brand name. Traditionally we associate owning a Ferrari or some other big name sports car with that mentality.

It's still a daft thing to say but it doesn't make her a hypocrite for explaining that she feels more comfortable wearing the size of clothes that she chooses to than what she's expected to.

I would say finding any reason to hate on a female, especially because of her looks, on an anonymous internet forum because of your their own insecurities would be considered toxic masculinity. I'd even say commenting on a film you don't want to see by saying what has been said in this topic (nothing to do with the media at all, just another reason to hate on a teenage woman) would also be considered toxic (I'm not going to say toxic masculinity. Just being toxic is enough)

It's shoes...A shoe brand. And she says it equates to the likes of those who buy a big truck.
Where as she wears big hoodies and that's how she likes her clothes. Chill.
But why isn't it chill if someone is saying the same about freaking Vans? It's Vans, a common shoe brand.

I just see it a bit hypocritical. But I understand she's young and still learning.
I remember her comment towards certain "tough" guy rappers and people called her racist for her emarks, which I didn't see it as that.

She's talking about the trendiness (or conformism) of the Vans brand and the psychology of brand association. It doesn't compare with why she's asked to justify wearing clothing that doesn't show off her figure.

Nobody asks Vans wearers why they don't wear something else do they?

What's with the "chill"? We're discussing the point you raised.

I think he's equating "chill" with the way she wears her clothes. Like "she looks very relaxed/chill" in them.

I would agree with your assessment. The only reason why I threw in those terms is because this forum has a long history with female-centric threads that get a LOT of hate that usually result in members being banned and Mods cleaning up after locking.

For example, Ghostbusters (2016), Captain Marvel, Birds of Prey, Black Widow, and now this. They all have the same common theme of female leads and share many comments such as some seen in here. And this forum has a largely male based demographic, so why is it they’re always attacking female-centric entertainment?

I’m not much of a Billie fan, though if her music plays on the radio I don’t mind it. I saw ads for the documentary but am hard pressed if I want to devote 150 minutes of my time watching her.

It’s like country music. I can only tolerate so much before I get annoyed haha

Most toxic masculinity traits would be in the form of extreme self-reliance, the need to do everything on their own. Shaming, disassociating, or avoidance of showing emotional expressions as it’s seen being “weak.” Men shouldn’t cry and the only emotion they are allowed to show is anger and aggression.

Then there’s extreme aspiration to be dominate physically, sexually, and intellectually (man-splaining). And what’s seen in this thread as continual devaluation of women’s accomplishments, body appearance, and sense of self.

Hope that helps.
