Default T3, 1080p vs 1080i

Is there anyway to tell if T3 BD that I will rent from Netflix is the old 1080i version or the new release 1080p version? Anyway I can tell from the artwork, marking on the disc or anything from the content of the disc?

If your HDTV is like mine, try pressing the I+ or Info button on the remote once the movie has started. It'll tell you the resolution used.

The thing is I don't have TV. I just use my 16.4" Sony Laptop to watch BD and the software can not tell whether it is 1080p or 1080i, it just says 1920x1080.

Does Netflix state any information regarding the release? Maybe if they put the release date you'll be able to know if it came out before or after the Blu-ray's re-release in 1080p.

Netflix only says the original theatrical release but not the disc release.

I'm sorry mate I'm all out of ideas. I don't use Netflix so I don't know how it works.

They impose a media player upon you right?

I have both the HD DVD & 1080i BD

Both look the same to me.

Sounds like the native res on your laptop screen is 1080p anyway so it's not really an issue, other than in your head.

No. Netflix mails you a physical disc. You sign up on their web site and make a queue of the movies you want to watch and they mail them to you in that order.

They're starting a download service a few months ago but I think the opener is referring to the actual disc.

Oh ok then, I have another technique, using MediaInfo, just open one of the video files and check if it's interlaced or progressive.
