Am i right in thinking the German would be the one to buy due to no forced subs on the English dub?

Yes

We know this one (see below) has no forced subs for sure. I can't speak for the other mediabook editions in Germany, but I imagine that they're the same.

It's pretty crucial IIRC. It's a verbal tirade near the end, during the big reveal. If I'd never seen the film before this BD, I'd have been a little bit lost.

Hmm, have never seen this so might wait to see if a more English friendly version turns up somewhere.

If you've not seen it, yes, it's better to wait for a completely English friendly release. There's the Shameless release if you really want to see it...

I was a bit hesitant due to what I have read is a potentially speaker damaging issue with the audio.

I nearly shat myself when I was watching my review copy and the distortion took hold. To have the movie up on listening level is a joy, but when it buggers up near the end, you honestly could end up blowing out your speakers.

Sorry. I forgot about that fatal detail. Shameless should have done a recall on that one.

CG are now doing a limited Opera with book and card signed by Argento but it seems to be a start up and only available on the site, tried registering but it asks for an italian tax code. I emailed them to see if this is available outside Italy.

Here is a link so people can look at the limited edition set:

http://www.nonapritequestoblog.it/pr...mited-edition/

Seems like it is Italian only. Will be interesting to discover which hd version of the film, it is using - the Japanese/German look or the newer US/French scan. I assume that a standard non-special edition version will also be made available.
65" Panasonic 4K tv and 6.1 sound.

They replied to my email and confirmed this limited set wont be made available outside Italy.

Did anyone pick up the Italian BD?
I was wondering how it compares to the German BD, in terms of the transfer.

It's said to look identical. Only with forced subs during the English track.

around italian forums some owner of this new italian BD said it was better than koch release. i was quite doubtful about it as i judged my Koch BD very good... anyway the price for the normal release was a nice deal so i decided to purchase it. just finished watching now and... it is definitely better than koch release. i suspect it's the same master but detail and grain are way better to my eyes, so does grading that is a little bit less saturated. especially the inserted SD scenes are much shorter than koch release, while the other parts of these scenes are fully remastered in HD. unfortunately english audio has forced subs. here's report of the disc:

Thanks for the info.

I'm glad there's improvements. I ended up ordering it a few days ago, along with a few other titles I wanted (including the new Suspiria BD), but I'm yet to watch it.
