Default What is best approach to owning muliple 3DS systems?

As the thread title asks, what is the best approach to owning multiple 3DS systems? My understanding is that my Nintendo ID can only be linked to one account and that I have to go through a system transfer process. Is there a article or tutorial out there that is considered to be the most up to date and thorough?

I am upgrading from an original 3DS to a New 3DS and my son is looking to switch from a 3DS XL to a new 3DS. In a perfect world, we'd still like to be able to use both systems with no compromises but that doesn't look to be the case. I appreciate any and all input.

***Gahhhh....I really wish I could correct the thread title. If a Mod would be so kind, it would be appreciated.***

Here's Nintendo's Official guide for transfering from a 3DS/3DS XL/2DS to a New 3DS/New 3DS XL: http://en-americas-support.nintendo....JpYXEzaWVhbiJ9

I recommend using the PC based transfer. I would worry about the WiFi transfer being interrupted by random interference.

Also as a side note, if you hold on to your old 3DS's you can use those for getting street passes. If you live somewhere where getting street passes is difficult, this can be a good way to get more of them. For some games it is still better to get real street passes though.
