Splatoon is getting a major update today, which will bring “Tag Match,” “Private Match,” and other new features. This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine revealed a first look at the Squid Girl costume that was announced in Japan.

The collaboration costume with Shinryaku! Ika Musume was announced only in Japan, the magazine issue confirms that it will release in the major update for the game later today.

As shown in the magazine scan, it comes with a version for girls and also one for boys. Here are some details behind the costume pieces:

Ika Musume hood:

Brand: Shinryaku! Ika Musume
Gear Power: Opening Gambit
Rarity: two-star
Price: 1,600

Ika Musume No-Sleeve (dress/shirt):

Brand: Shinryaku! Ika Musume
Gear Power: Damage Up
Rarity: two-star
Price: 2,000

Ika Musume Shoes:

Brand: Shinryaku! Ika Musume
Gear Power: Swim Speed Up
Rarity: two-star
Price: 1,700

While the Shinryaku! Ika Musume has yet to be announced for the West, we’ll find out later today when Splatoon’s major update goes live.

I've been playing this game for a week now, and while I agree that it released with barely any content. As of today, the game is awesome. Single player starts as a bit of a drag, but stages from world 4 and 5 are well-designed. Also, the final boss battle is the first challenge I've gotten out of a Nintendo game in decades, props to them for that.

The multiplayer starts as a bit of a drag as well, grinding your way to level 10 in Turf Wars can get a bit repetitive. Especially when the roller is the go-to weapon for everyone in this mode. However, once you start playing Ranked Battles, everything changes: need to pick gear and weapons accordingly, map availability and diversity increases, and more importantly the other game modes are fun as hell.

Add that to the amazing soundtrack and style this game has and I'd say it is a pretty good value today. I just wish my friends had Wii U's to play with me (and the game had 4-player co-op multi like Rocket League).

Finally picked this game up over the weekend. It has been a lot of fun so far, although I am still only at level 6.

Finally started playing this last night. I got it on day one, but haven't sat down to play it until now. It really is quite charming. It's got that Nintendo feeling for sure. Music is great. I really can't handle the controls to well though. I turned off motion, but even then I can't really aim too precise using the game pads analogue sticks. I really wish I could use the pro controller.

Other than that, I think the game is a lot of fun. Definitely a great entry in the Nintendo library, and I hope it gets a sequel on the NX.

Its a really good game that I should play more (Say that far too often really) though I can never seem to play it longer then a few hours. I really hope it gets a sequel down the line on whatever the NX becomes when more people will play it.
