Yeah it sucks but I'd rather have a free game I'll play than a trinket that'll just sit there. Kinds sucks even more that the UK is getting both perks.

It is a good perk for those who don't have games yet.

I already own Super Mario Bros. U, The Wind Waker, and Pikmin 3, and Wii Party U doesn't interest me much at all.

But I will say that Wind Waker is a must of any of you who don't own and plan on grabbing Mario Kart 8.

Is it still a must if you have already played it? Is it great to play on Wii U. I have been on the fence about picking it up since I played it on Gamecube but looked great in the previews.

Nintendo World Store in NYC is the only place in America getting the edition with the blue shell.

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/201..._north_america

I'm totally thinking about asking my buddy to ship one to me but I think it'll be pretty beat up after a 2nd shipping.

Is the only thing included in that the blue shell. I work around the block from the Nintendo Store. I am off the day it comes out though, and doubt they would have it on the following Monday.

The side of the box looks to indicate it's just the game and shell. Supposedly pre-orders are live since yesterday.

the game plus a shell is what the UK and EU are getting too.

I passed on ordering the UK one. I do not think the plastic shell is worth is 20 pounds.

I never have friends to add and play Mario kart games with. It would be a lot more fun when you know people you're racing!

The reviews are very strong, but it doesn't seem like anyone is particulary happy about the new direction for battle mode. I hope the criticism inspires Nintendo to release a classic arena pack.

That is something I hope Nintendo does for this title. Release new tracks and new characters throughout the life of the game as DLC. Imagine a Luigi's Mansion themed Halloween level or a Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze Christmas level. I would buy those in a heart beat.

Reviews seem solid, as expected. Besides the battle arenas being absent, there's another thing that I'm not a fan of. Apparently the track map is only on the gamepad. Like they had no idea what to do with it so stuck the track map on it.

Not a problem for single player. But I'll probably be playing a lot with split screen, so the gamepad player has an immediate advantage with access to the map. Granted, it's not a gamechanger, and we never used the map that heavily, but it's still a weird, questionable decision from them.

Of course, this isn't enough to turn me away, still can't wait to play it.

I've also read the only rear view option is on the gamepad. Like, really?

If they do DLC I also hope they do patches. Patch the blue shell right the hell out of it.

From the reviews I've read the blue shell has become rare, you won't see it every single race, in fact the reviews have said it's less about the weapons and more about racing and skill. They removed a lot of the cheap AI, so they don't always just come out of nowhere and catch up. You also can get some horn or something that can stop the blue shell as well, however that is supposedly more rare than the blue shell.
