That's some marvelous smelling bull shit you got here. I wonder why there were so many patches for PS3 and 360 games then, because I remember pretty much every game I played getting them.

Doesn't matter what gen it is. These companies are comfortable and allowed to get away with shipping broken games simply to appease investors and meet deadlines. QA is out the window anymore.

I'm not defending the broken games, but it's not fair to compare the performance of a game like Splatoon to games with releastic graphics, and big worlds, that include ps3/360 games too

I saw a live stream of Xenoblade Chronicles X on IGN and it had framerates drops, like the "next gen" games

plus jimidini you paid $40 for this game, so of course you won't relate to this

I was willing to give this a try, but I don't want to pay 60 for an incomplete game, + $35 to get all the day 1 contents

and since the wii u is region locked, I have no other option

The easiest way to put it is that you should not buy the game just for the single player. It's comprehensive and gets you to grips with the gameplay but not much else. The evolving MP is this games purpose.

Which really sucks IMO. I understand the interest in online gaming, but IMO they should also make the offline mode roughly equally as robust as the online.

I was wondering if there was a thread for this game . I'm really loving it . I was getting tired of call of duty and other shooters. This is a refreshing take for me.

While there's no concrete game numbers, Splatoon sold about 97% of it's shipment in Japan. They also sold over 100K Splatoon Amiibo which was about 90% of stock. Odd that they have Amiibo numbers but not game numbers. Still great news though for a new ip.

think it sold like 145k in japan. Not bad considering console gaming is dead there and nintendo didn't make many copies if it has a 97% sold stock. Will be interesting to see what it sells elsewhere though, it's sold out at my bestbuy the last few days.

Yes, this game is really fun. The solo missions are gradually harder by level and then the final boss ups things... considerably. I pre-ordered last E3 and paid C$50 for it, whereas it is now C$70+tax in-stores.

The Amiibo interaction is well-done. Using the girl will open-up 20 solo missions using the charge gun. The inkling will open-up 16 missions to replay as the all-powerful squid and 4 with limited ink (very tough!). The boy will open-up 20 solo missions to replay using the roller. When you win/complete the challenge you get coins to buy online items and either gear or secret blueprints for weapons (which have same stats are regular version so it's only an image swap) for the boss stage redo.

The online is good but still needs some fixes (and it's at v1.2 after the first patches). Connection timeouts/weird errors happen during team-formation once an hour. I have had errors at the ends of matches 5-6 times. While waiting for teams to form you can play a little inkling jump game which is fun and stages state are stored for hours while playing between online matches.

The main gameplay is painting the stage but also using strategy to kill the other team so that you end-up with the most surface painted after 3 mins. You will earn around 500 xp/coins from level 1-10 for your painting/kills and then start getting closer to 1000 per match after level 10.

There are 8(?) main stages that will refresh every 2 hours(?) and no matter what you are doing at the time (anything not-in-match, like buying stuff or loitering), you will be shuffled over to the annoying Squid Girls video board where you need to mash A around 20 times to end the time-waste. No skip button. Oh and you get to see it every time you start-up the game.

Match-making itself is odd, but it is nice that it is global, so if you play late at night you may have all JP players playing. You can be grouped with level 20 players from very early on (level 5 or 6 for me, IIRC). They will have awesome guns and 4 slot gear. You will die a lot. Lag while playing has happened around 1 in 50 matches... you will shoot ink at walls and it won't appear until seconds later. Players max at level 20, but I would guess it would take 40 hours to get that high. At level 10 you open up ranked online games, where if your team wins you'll get over 1000xp/coins and if you lose you get zilch.

Actual online gameplay mechanics have some weapons that are OP. I'll use something like the roller and fling ink with it at an enemy (same level) and they won't die. And then 30s later it happens to me and I die instantly. If you have something like the Roller or a short range gun there may be spots on the map where you can't escape your pursuer(s) unless you are killed. Constant Spawn kills are possible because there should be an edge around your Spawn Point but there isn't. My worst team loss was 90% to less than 10% for us but after 3 minutes of pain it is over. A good thing is the Squid Jump, where if you've died and see a teammate 50% across the map, you can tap them and then you will jump to join them. But if an enemy is waiting, so will be creamed instantly 95% of the time before even materializing.

Besides dozens of weapons to buy with your coins to use online, you can also buy items for your head/body/feet at stores and as you gain levels, they will start to have empty slots that you need to fill by getting XP online. The only problem is after leveling 2000xp or 6000xp, the randomizer is horrible. I have 3 items where the 2 empty slots are the exact same stat boost/functionality, which I guess is another way to get you to spend your coins. I am not sure how stacking something like 'main weapon save ink' actually works because the tips say you should try for a wide variety of boosts.

I know they have added items like the inkbrush recently and will be adding more stuff into July and August, so if you feel like sinking some time into the game, I would recommend it at a good price.

Splat Zones

Tower Control

Rainmaker

UPDATE:
Rainmaker Mode revealed:

In {0E0000000300020000}Rainmaker{0E000000030002ffff}, both teams compete
to snag the Rainmaker.{0E000000040000}Once you've got it, the goal is to
carry it into the other team's base!

So as soon as the battle begins,
grab that {0E0000000300020000}Rainmaker{0E000000030002ffff}!

It's guarded by a shield, though,
so you'll need to bust it out first.

Once you snag it, head for the other
team's base. And be quick about it!

If you run out of time or get splatted,
the {0E0000000300020000}Rainmaker{0E000000030002ffff} will be dropped.{0E000000040000}Its shield will also reactivate.

The {0E0000000300020000}Rainmaker{0E000000030002ffff} is crazy heavy, so you
can't {0E0000000300020000}Super Jump {0E000000030002ffff}while carrying it.{0E000000040000}Your teammates will have to
watch your back!

The {0E0000000300020000}Rainmaker {0E000000030002ffff}can also shoot ink like
an {0E0000000300020000}Inkzooka{0E000000030002ffff}, so you can clear a path!

The closer you get to the enemy
base while holding the {0E0000000300020000}Rainmaker{0E000000030002ffff}, {0E000000040000}the lower your {0E0000000300020000}goal distance{0E000000030002ffff} will drop.

If the battle ends without anyone
carrying the Rainmaker to the goal,{0E000000040000}the team with the {0E0000000300020000}lowest
goal distance{0E000000030002ffff} will win!

It's kinda long and boring so if you ever get around to do it then it's just for completion.

Here are three things I'd like improved:

1) Remove the annoying Squid News sisters from every time one starts the game. Or allow to skip instantly. I don't care about this at all.

2) Integrate the map on the TV because most of the time people aren't going to look down at the GamePad.

3) Allow us to play all maps available because limiting to two per each 4hrs is just ridiculously pathetic of a move.

^ I agree the my little pony looking sisters are so annoying, they appear every 4 hours, so every time I leave my wii u on and return to the game, I have to sit through the segment again

but watch them get their own amiiboos, and grown men have a meltdown about it lmao

I'm about to finish the last bit of the Story Mode and then that's it for Splatoon, for me. I've played the online mode and it wasn't as good as I'd have hoped for (only two maps per 4hrs) so once Yoshi's Wolly World arrives, I'll play that instead.

Nintendo really needs to get rid of these limitations they have on Splatoon and add more maps.

Splatoon's lifespan is shorter than Titanfall. And even though I've not played Titanfall it sure looks way more awesome with those robots and all.
