France Ronald / Ronal The Barbarian (2011) Blu-ray 3D [Region B Locked]

This is the one 3D blu-ray movie I can't wait to see.
The danish/german audio version is already out with english subtitles but
the dubbed english version is the one I'm checking daily for. Here's the english trailer:

Looks interesting. I'll keep an eye on this one.

Nice to see more movies in 3D. CGI computer animated movies having been filmed in 3D since it's so much easier to do in a computer animation program versus live action, which requires bulking around 3D cameras currently so heavy, it requires a rig to move it, in most cases I'd guess.

Thumbs up

The character designs, mostly the eyes, remind me of a Rankin Bass stop motion movie, maybe something from Rudolph the Red Nosed reindeer, the elves and Abominable snowman. Looks good.

Ha, looks pretty funny. I'd probably buy it if the 3D is good and strong.

After watching the trailer, I got excited about watching this. I contacted Einstein films, and they directed me to their international sales division. It appears that there are no plans in the works of bringing this to the US

That looks kind of awesome. A little leery of the French one as it says Region B. Might wait for confirmation on that before I import.

Where did you pre-order from? The only spoken language on the discs I find is German.

Please let me know when you have received Ronal the Barbarian 3d and if it indeed contains english audio. Also I didn't notice any mention of english audio for sammy 2. Is sammy 2 sold anywhere else? Thanks

It has an English track but it has forced subtitles.

Movie is quite funny but 3D is pretty much non existent.

oh I wish i had searched out this thread before purchasing this title from Amazon.fr.....I saw it had an english soundtrack and it was SOLD!

Had a quick flick through it....the 3D seems adequate but not ground-breaking at all....but the forced Subs annoy me to buggery...I wouldn't have purchased had I known that was the case (even though i've been waiting for this title to get a wider release for ages - doesnt look like that will happen)

Oh well...at least I have the movie with an English soundtrack...will post my full thoughts after I view it...

Yeah, I ripped my disc to create a copy without forced subs. It is much more enjoyable. I thought the 3D was pretty good, not great, but not bad either. At least it was consistent.

Well i manged to make my way past the forced subs and watch this movie....actually once I got into it I actually forgot the subs were even there!

As for the movie....hmmmm I wanted so much to enjoy it - but it kinda fell a little flat for me...I was expecting more. I think Dee Snider (Twisted Sister lead singer) was a perfect choice to voice the baddie - he just lifted the character. The story was a bit ordinary and seemed to wander off track a fair bit in my opinion...but hey another watch may change my mind (as it often does with 3D titles - I hated Avengers on the first watch!!!)

To the 3D...oh the 3D - I think I missed it...it was there but so inconsistant, some scene showed hints of promise, but then others were quite possibly more 3D with my glasses off! I would go on to say that sadly the end credits feature what is probably the best 3d throughout the film.....

Bit of a shame really....
Chris
