Default Dolby Atmos - LG SK9Y and LG SK10Y Soundbars: Are they good?

First thing, there isn't much room space to put full speaker system, so I considered to buy Dolby Atmos Soundbar.
So, I looked into it and saw "LG SK9Y and LG SK10Y Soundbars"

Are they good or what?

PS.1:
I should have said: I was only looking for Dolby Atmos Soundbar, not DTS-X ones.

The LGs have got some very poor reviews for their price range and don't do DTS-X. Mind you, if you can get the discontinued model the SJ9 for dirt cheap it could be worth considering that.

Look into the Samsung N850 or for wireless rears and true surrounds the N950. These are the two best Atmos bars on the consumer-end market right now. Like all such bars though they are dependant on your room layout for the Atmos effect to work. If you have a simple plaster ceiling and reasonably square room layout you're fine.

Thanks for reply.

I already have SJ9 and was looking to buy another one for different room that is same size is room that I asked about.

Also, I should have said: I was "only" looking for LG cause Atmos, not DTS-X.

SK9Y or SK10Y has wireless rear, LG SPK8-S, in case you didn't know.

What about the new Vizio Soundbar that just released 36'VIZIO SB36512-F6 5.1 for $500 with 2 rears included. Also the $1000 version just released i think or coming out
VIZIO SB46514-F6 46-Inch 5.1.4. Any reviews on them. The $500 seems like a steal if you want Dolby Atmos without breaking the bank, not sure it does DTSX tho, maybe the $1K version does or a simulated version?

Why would you purposefully not want DTS:X? Not all discs have Atmos, some have the rival DTS: X format.

Cause I don't much have 4K UHD Movies (less then 10).

And all of them have only Dolby Atmos.

I know this is a month passed thread that I wrote.

I just read thread that some of LG's 2019 sound bars will have both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.

CES 2019 speculation & the facts

Thanks for the info.

By the way, is it good thing or bad thing that they have included Google Assistant?

Well it can't be bad if you don't use it, just irrelevant.

This might be a really, really dumb question, so my apologies if so.

But how do you tell if Dolby Atmos is enabled on the SK9Y?

My setup is pretty simple. LG UBKC90 --HDMI Cable--> LG SK9Y --other HDMI cable--> LG OLED55B7A

Is there a little light that shows if atmos is on? I thought it would say DOLBY ATMOS on the LG SK9Y, but all it ever says is HDMI in

I think the Dolby Atmos part only shows when you play Dolby Atmos Contents.
As far as I know, it will show in the "Display Window" of Soundbar.
Also, when I check, I use Soundbar's Remote Control to show it:
Quote:
i Circle button :
- Displays the input source information.
- Displays the connected Bluetooth device name on
Bluetooth function.
These are what it says in SK9Y Soundbar's Manuel"
Quote:
1. Connect HDMI IN jack on the back of the unit to HDMI OUT jack on the external device such as Blu-ray disc player, DVD player, etc.
2. Connect HDMI OUT (TV ARC) jack on the back of the unit to HDMI IN (ARC) jack on the TV.
3. Set the input source to HDMI IN or OPT/HDMI ARC. Press repeatedly F on the remote control or F on the unit until the function is selected.
-- If you select HDMI IN you can hear the sound from the external device. Select it when playing
the external device.
-- If you select OPT/HDMI ARC, you can hear the sound from your TV. Select it when watching
the TV.
You can see “DOLBY ATMOS”on the display window if connecting normally between this sound bar and your TV and DOLBY ATMOS contents is played.
Quote:
For using DOLBY ATMOSŪ
1. DOLBY ATMOSŪ is available only in HDMI IN and ARC mode.
-- To use DOLBY ATMOSŪ in ARC mode, your TV has to support DOLBY ATMOSŪ.
2. It is needed to set up an audio output on external devices (Blu-ray disc player, TV etc.) to “No encoding” such as “Bitstream”, “Auto” or “Bypass”.
-- If you can select audio output sampling rate, set it to 192 kHz.
Above is what the manual says, but for me I use this setup for LG UP970 and when I play Dolby Atmos 4K UHD, it shows as Dolby Atmos:
Quote:
1. UP970 HDMI 1 (Out to TV) to TV's HDMI Connection (Not the ARC)
2. UP970 HDMI 2 (Audio Only) to SJ9.
